(I'm asking mostly for C. If the answer to that last question for D is "yes" I shall be very surprised).

I think D could be explained by "missing presumed dead".. so cases of missing women I suppose.

A real male animal, famous. Odd.

For C, I'm leaning towards the tortoise Lonesome George or the rhinoceros Sudan.. could definitely be any number of famous primates though. Will wait to hear the result of Jamie's question before asking again.

In regards to question D: were they over twenty years of age when they were last confirmed alive?
