Was he principally known for something other than his writing?

(Thinking entertainer who published an autobiography).

Huh. Not on either of those lists of playwrights or poets. Hm.

Clarification on question 10 - is "novels" equivalent to "all books"?

No, the category of written media this person is famous for is definitely a book, but I would not call it a novel.

But it's also not non-fiction, so we're missing something.

I think the clincher here is the difference between "books" and "book".

I'm getting the impression that this person is associated with ONE published work, and not really more than one.

Did he write primarily for children?

(I am thinking that someone who produced a picture book with a few words, aimed at young children, would not be classified a "novelist")

IF the answer to that question is "Yes",

THEN: I would like to guess MAURICE SENDAK.

But if the answer to that question is "No", then I withdraw this guess, please don't answer the guess in that case, only the question.
