Look, we're just waiting until we find out it was Alan Turing, and then we can get back in track with the best guess the person ever- Oxygen

Your monopoly example just shows that the rules of that game are bad- your wife won the game by owning every property. The fact you continued to play until running out of money doesn't prove that every game should be played by attempting to follow every rule. It really just shows the opposite- unless your objective is make everyone kill themselves I suppose.

No, you've misunderstood. She didn't own every property. She owned one of every property set. No houses were built, no hotels were built, and there was no increase in basic rent due to someone owning a set. Nobody came close to running out of money. Everyone made modest incomes every circuit as they passed go, and had plenty of savings for those times when they were unlucky with extra taxes or when they stayed at very reasonably priced properties. No one could win, and no one could lose either. Mrs Oct had created a socialist utopian outcome. Only the trains were expensive... but it was the British version.

If you think that is what I was trying to prove you have misunderstood extremely badly

Francis Crick?

(apologies all. Working with Egyptian internet and messaging is somewhat jumbled. This one should have been sent some time ago)

Dr.Bunsen Honeydew?

Oh wait wait no, I think he's still alive and I think he's American.
(and also a Muppet)

Disregard that one. Bad guess.

Oh wow. I was at a conference yesterday from very early to pretty late, so was away for the whole day. I come back to find a thread full of anecdotes and guesses and almost philosophical musings about Jaws.

Alan Turing was correct! I think it's amazing how you sometimes come up with the right answer when I think you're nowhere near yet.

About the library question: I have not been to the public library here in town for the last 6 years, and that was only to get children's books for my kids. The last time I was in a library looking for a book for myself was probably in the early 90's, and even then I was not looking for books about Alan Turing (I was studying Economics at the time), so it was a guess on my part. If you say there are more than one book on Turing in libraries nowadays, I'll take your word for it.

I would agree with other voices urging us to limit subjectivity in questions, and perhaps first of all, in answers. I considered Alan Turing and Francis Crick, but quite a few books have been written on both.

I promise the next person isn't Oxygen.

And I added an attempt of creating that subjective rule.
