He's been very helpful to the newer players which is not a vibe I think I would get from scum!Jamiet, who would just let someone else help them and would focus on either lurking or occupying the attention of mafia vets e.g. you, Eden, Chaqa.

Also consider someone (Chaqa? idr who) said that Rumi(?) was hamming up new player questions to gain sympathy. Meaning there's a slight undertone of help newbie -> get a little sus attention. Jamiet not caring what people might think about him helping the newer players, including when Byz tried to vote for Jamiet, rings true to me as an actually helpful townie.

So how much of byz was scum. And how much just bad play?
I was scumreading or leaning damo, but allowed myself to get pulled in too early.
I’m wanting to vote for actual scuminess, rather than mere meta changes, like i saw in damo. (Says every mafplayer, i know…)

Wondering if you are right on the sabi manipulations, or was she simplyvwrong.
End of day might give us some fruit, although i am agreeing with your questioning that it was blatantly purposeful.

I’d like to hear what my doppelganger thinks about EOD1 and where this is headed. I know she’s expressed a strong preference not to judge snowy on Byz’s actions, and fair enough on that, but I’d at least like a take on EOD1 and how she would approach the game if Byz hadn’t subbed out. I would find that useful to sort her even if it’s largely moot given that she’s already said she will be giving snowy a fresh start.

I still find the treatment of Byzs slot intresting on regards to how Celaph was approaching it early. I thought it was a mafia attempting to pocket a town.

That EoD was atrocious which is really confusing to me because up until the last hours of EoD I had largely looked at the slot and saw someone who was decidedly null but definitely not a Day 1 chop but I think that EoD largely felt scummy and I certainly would have applied pressure on Byz early tomorrow to see how they changed.

Which is why I want to give Snowy a chance though because up until the end of the phase I hadn't even looked at Byz one time as a potential chop.

I will certainly take the play of Byz in when reading Snowy but I just don't want us to come in already having decided on the slots guilt.

I've already covered how I think Chaqa's suspicion of me makes him town, but
I kind of want to challenge this particular interpretation of Jamie. Maybe I don't know Jamie well enough, but this one didn't read to me so much as "helpful" as annoyance. The "Now you try it" reads to me in a similar way to how someone might talk to another person like a child when they're annoyed at them screwing up or otherwise making a mistake that the person in question should not be making.

it kind of came off to me as "I told you once, why do I have to repeat myself." I'm probably being stupid, but i think that sequence is more NAI than anything.

I don’t know that you’re a liability. And while you wouldn’t have any way of knowing this, I really dislike voting people off for being perceived “liabilities” (or really for any reason other than “X is mafia”). It creates a really toxic environment where people feel pressured to act like elitist snobs to get clout and don’t allow newer or struggling players to gain experience and grow out of their initial difficulties as players.

That said, you’re probably right that there’s a strain of town players who would do that. Not me though

Byz has indicated I think that he is GMing another game and also was somewhat busy with work. I suspect that in this other game, posting at night is not a thing, as Byz seemed to be surprised by this fact.

This expectation of night posting probably threw Byz for a loop as he was likely expecting to not have to post here and be able to focus on other things, and so he dropped.

On Mafiascum and MafiaUniverse, posting at night is banned. It's a really stupid rule that reduces participation for people who happened to roll Town, and slightly increases Scum's victory chance, imh opinion.

This is the objectively correct answer, we have night talk here because my main mafia community in mid-2014 allowed night talk, so I ported that over, and it just kind of stuck. It’s cool that we have a unique wrinkle in the larger mafia Internet space, but I’m not sure it’s really optimal practice. It’s definitely not standard across the Internet though lol.

I think night chat is good. The lack of it on other sites annoys me.
