Good night fine town people. Just remembered about the game starting today now.
Will start catching up now but I won't be surprised if I just fall asleep.

Why is that?
What do you imagine it accomplishes?
Well, running someone up to the hammer is a tried and true method to get people going and generate readable moments. It's effective and fairly common.

Why are you so dismissive of it? Is it just because you are the one at risk?
Our site meta is typically to be anti-hammer FWIW.

I for one welcome the shenanigans.

So what do people think about peeking today?
Ok so actually I was thinking about this.

To state the obvious:

The clear benefit to peeking during D1 is that you learn what badge you started out with.

The clear benefit to waiting to peek later (perhaps much later) is that you learn what badge you ended up with after various events may or may not have taken place.

The question is, which of these items of information is more useful, bearing in mind, you can only have one, or the other?
Thinking for five seconds, I conclude that it's best for everyone to make this choice individually and privately so that we get a mix and mafia don't know which is which.
I think Mafia and PRs will refrain from using it early because of the self oracle. The vanilla townies could choose between peeking or not and I agree with you that a individual choice is probably the best choice for town.

Aye... i wondered if we'd get a push for all doing it. Individual choice seems best.

The irony is that I have typically said that we need to hammer more often, cuz people just obviously make up their minds and aren’t changing them, but let the game stagnate instead of moving on.

But I’m also too much of a softie to follow through usually.

What time zone are you?

Would you hammer bo so that he doesn't have the opportunity to make the new folks feel unwelcome, though?

Because openly announcing that you’re fabricating a push eliminates any need for people to have authentic reactions. Doubly so when you choose a popular meme target—not that you’d have known I was one, but you deferred to Sabi, who does.
I like this post.

It does seem like something we should try at some point, but I'm a big fan of our EoDs from both entertainment and emotional standpoints.
