20 Questions - Game 15

#1 Post by cdngooner » Thu Jun 16, 2022 11:16 am

Rules as always:
1. Only yes/no questions may be asked.
2. If the answer is unclear, question master must clarify why.
3. One guess per person does not count against the total, but additional guesses by the same person do. After all 20 questions are up, three total guesses are allowed.
4. Please choose people from history, or movie/TV/literary/video game chars/etc. characters that, if you were to throw a dart out the window, at least 50% of people hit would know this character.
5. Whomever guesses correctly takes over from the previous question master. If they do not want to do it, they may choose who to pass the duty onto or just give it to the first volunteer.
6. If the question master remains undefeated three times in a row, on the third time they must either pass it to a person of their choice, or the first volunteer takes over.

Good luck!

Female?
No, male (I think its more helpful to frame answers in the positive, if possible, and without getting into the politics of non-binary sexuality, for the purposes of this game, I take that to be a binary question and will answer with the positive binary option).

1. Male.

Is he still alive?

Also meta question I guess - how would that question be responded to if the character was fictional and we didn't yet know that?

Is he still alive?
No. And given your meta-question, that could mean he is dead, or he is fictional and was never alive. I give better hints as the game goes on, but at this early stage I'll give pretty literal answers unless that would be misleading.

1. Male
2. Either dead, or fictional (not established yet).

Haha, fair enough. Kind of tricky because the alternative question "is he dead?" could truthfully be answered yes for a fictional character who died in the story. Not sure how you'd answer if not though, I guess "he is not alive" would still be a fair enough answer.

So actual question: Was he a real person?

What's with the numbering? Maybe it's obvious but I can't figure it out.

Did he die prior to 1700?

Related/follow-up questions. "Yes he's dead, and yes he died prior to 1900." "No he wasn't born in North America, yes he was born in Europe."

Answers that are no longer informative due a later, more precise question, are combined in the numbering. In this case, Question #2 asked if he was dead. Question #4 asked if he died before 1900. Telling you he is dead provides zero useful information if I later tell you he died before 1900. I'm just trying to help you guys manage the given information.
