FWIW, I'm from Canada and am familiar with Robert the Bruce, so that answer would not bother me.

I'm familiar with him only because of Civilization VI, which seems oblique enough that'd I'd not expect most people to know him.

So this person was an outlaw killer, who never robbed a bank or joined the military, but was formerly involved in government. Hmm.
