If you are a townsperson ten the obvious best strategy is to vote your neighbour [4/9 Mafia] as opposed to random voting [4/18 Mafia]. However if Maf do likewise doc would be revealed. Interesting.
@Demon why do you think scum are at an advantage?

GM Note:
It hasn't come up, but doctor saves only work for the night phase.
Effectively, the mafia vigilante's shot cannot be mechanically prevented in any way.

For the sake of clearing the air, the actual theme/flavor was meant to be m regular Law and Order and I just went with the SVU because that's the one my wife and I watch all the time...

Town gets a doc and Maury Povich.
Scum get a cop and an on demand daykill that the protextive role cannot stop. And daychat which means they narrow 4 names out of the doc pool the moment the game starts.

This is interesting set-up, but is it going to be rather mechanical?
Day 1, we kill someone assume a townie. Seconds before death the townie says who their neighbour was.
Night - mafia kill town (really unlikely D1 kill’s neighbour)
Day 2 - 4 mafia, 13 town so 4/16 chance of anyone else being mafia from a townie’s POV. But the neighbour of D1 kill is 4/9. A townie
Neighbour of D1 kill just isn’t going to survive those odds, and we know they can’t be the doctor. Say they are town.
Night 2 - mafia kill town.
D3 - we mis-kill a town who tells us who his partner is.
N3 - we lose another townie. (6th)
D4 - 4 mafia 11 town so 4/14 from a townie’s point of view but the neighbour of d3 miskill is now 4/8 (50%) chance of being mafia and they can’t be doc. They are almost auto killed.
You see where this is going, no reads, players will coast, it’ll be a numbers game.
I’m still in, but we need to know what we’re in for, also any ##end will be very scummy in this set up.

I think the concern you bring up is valid for a majority of all non-vanilla games and is dependent on the players to actively participate to scum hunt.
My opinion: If you boil it down to just mechanics, then that's on you as a player and if you're town, you're more likely to lose in this game because of that.

The intent behind the scum vigilante is to use it as this game's mass claim protection against claiming all neighbors and procedurally killing people off in a POE based on those claims.

It's not 4/9. Monty Hall doesn't apply here because the information we're given (we're town/daykill is town) isn't chosen with prejudice, so it alters the odds of the given pair containing a scum.

As fun as this game looks, I'm realizing that I'm really busy as school right now so would like to be moved to the subs list.
