Given the likelihood it would lock me vs Vecna in, you're relying on one scum to swing against Vecna to give me towncred - So unless you genuinely believe that me dying and flipping scum yesterday would've given Vecna enough towncred to reach the endgame (which is an extremely dubious conclusion), the 'planning' behind this makes no sense.

Perhaps the wagon wasn't there, but he was certainly digging himself a grave for a while. He then rescued it later on, but I think he was a pretty reasonable early bus candidate for a time.

Do we though? What are the benefits of that? THe only benefits of flipping outside gold/Man is that we might find the godfather if neither of them are one, otherwise there is no benefit at all.
