it's like 10-5 and the flum wagon has been pretty solid, I don't think he's genuinely worried about dying

not sure what the posts are about but I don't think they're necessarily town indicative

Chp. 2

Evelyn tossed some coins to the merchant and stuffed the produce she received into a burlap carrying bag strapped to her back. She retreated out of the noisy market back into the main corridor near the city center. She had traveled into the large city to buy goods for her father. They lived a few miles outside of town, so they purchased as much as they could each trip. Evelyn’s best friend, Sam, walked beside her, a similar carrying sack strapped to his back.

“What else is left?” he asked.

Evelyn pulled out a list from the front pocket of her shirt and studied it.

“Looks like just a few more things. We can get all that is left at Mac’s”

They began walking south down the main road, about a mile long walk to Mac’s shop. Evelyn looked around at the city. The sun was shining brightly and it reflected off the water pooled at the base of a fountain in the town square ahead. People bustled about, many doing the same thing she and Sam were. But there were also people dressed much fancier than she was, bright coats and jewelry and hats of all shapes and sizes. They were bankers, or traders maybe, scurrying around with urgency. They passed a blacksmith, a pottery shop, a physicians building, a fine clothing store and even a winery - all with prices she could only dream of one day affording. The city seemed vibrant, happy even, with an energy that was intoxicating. As she admired her surroundings she heard a quiet voice.

“Spare change?” the voice asked, and Evelyn looked around, trying to locate its source. Her eyes eventually found their target and were greeted with two children, no older than nine or ten, clothes darkened with several days worth of dust. Beside her, Sam kept walking, eyes forward, but Evelyn stopped and crouched down to meet their eyes.

“Where are your parents? Do you…”

“Hey!” someone shouted, “No begging you miscreants.”

Evelyn turned and saw a guard strolling towards them, spear in hand. She heard a rustling of feet, swiveled her head back, and glimpsed the two children already halfway down an adjacent alley, their short strides covering ground far more quickly than Evelyn anticipated.

“You didn’t have to do that,” she said to the guard.

“Rules are rules, miss,” he said, “I’m not without a heart, but if we give a slice they will take a loaf.”

Evelyn scowled, but could not think of a good response to that.

“Come on. Let’s finish up,” Sam said, clearly trying to cut some of the tension.

“Fine,” Evelyn said, and they continued on their way.

Twenty minutes later, they walked out of Mac’s shop with the last of their items purchased and headed back towards the town square. Evelyn looked around again at the city, but the experience with the guard and the children had tainted her perception of what she found so beautiful about it just an hour earlier. Now she saw refuse collecting in the street gutters and citizens huddled in back alleys, hands shifting beneath cloaks. She dropped her head in silence, no longer in a good enough mood to chat with Sam. Not paying attention, she bumped into someone and grumbled a half-hearted apology. A few steps later someone nudged her from behind. Why, suddenly, were there so many damn people in the street? Two men raced past her, shouting, and her eyes followed their path and she got her answer.

Up ahead there was a giant mass of people, shoulder to shoulder, humming like a beehive. Evelyn was confident that she knew what was happening, but began shouldering her way through to the front of the crowd to be sure. Her head finally broke through the crowd and she gained enough vision to see what everyone was looking at. A woman knelt in the center of a wooden platform, her hands tied behind her back. Directly in front of her, a wooden contraption that came up to her shoulder. Beside her, one of the largest men Evelyn had ever seen stood, a mammoth ax in his hands. And behind him, several guards stood at attention, bows drawn and pointed directly at the woman. She was sobbing.

The enormous man spoke, “Lady Wenonah. You have been found guilty of treachery and magic, the most foul sin in our lands. By decree of Emperor Gerold and the Lady of Power herself, you are sentenced to death. Is there anything you would like to confess?”

“Confess?” the woman shouted, “I don’t know magic you swine! If I did, the first thing I would do is rip your...”

SWISH

The ax moved through the air, and the woman's neck in an instant - a blur of motion and sound.

Sam gasped beside her and turned away. But Evelyn’s eyes were locked on the woman’s head as it fell from her shoulders to the earth with a thud.

To attempt to be a slightly nicer Mafia player (for now), I shall deign to answer your question though Bob. The post asking what the hell the rdrivera wagon was was particularly poor because there was a prolonged, fairly lengthy exchange between myself & kgray where we both elucidated multiple reasons for why we were suspicious of rdrivera - Something that other people such as TFB also chimed in on and agreed with. Whilst I may be able to excuse you not getting the Donny wagon as it took a long time for the stones to start the avalanche on that front not knowing why people were voting rdrivera when you were around for the entire discussion about it is less excusable. If you're going to question a wagon, please at least read the reasons from the people suggesting & discussing it.
