why would we want to claim items
There are 6 items the mafia can't start with. The advantages of claiming early are narrowing the scum pool and preventing mafia from making fake claims later. There are also obvious disadvantages.

Not for that reason, but the mafia can only hold 11 of the 17 items, so it eliminates 6 players from the mafia pool and prevents a mafia from surviving the DK at EOD by claiming one of these 6 items.

I assume the items are not revealed because they stay in the game.

@gm are any items held on flip revealed?

forcing everyone to claim their item gives scum all that info to choose kills off of.

Man, I am just not feeling it right now. No offense to ya'll. This'll probably be my last mafia game until whatever we might get for a winter break. So...I have really just skimmed the thread. Not picking up much out of the ordinary Day 1 features. I think once I get my document started and check stuff out of the bot tonight/tomorrow, I'll be in a better frame of mind.
