I think I was telling Jamie and darg about that game. If I remember right, we had to restart it because everyone had names of characters from Westerns, and the mafia only had bad guy names lol. I tried to fakeclaim a good guy and no one bought it.

I remember that too, because I was SK in the first iteration.

Chaqa was so excited about his flavor that he posted the list of VT flavor names halfway through D1.

Avoiding certain words...

I very much welcome the mafia community striving to end certain terminology. This happened in my absence and it took me a while to get used to and I’ve made mistakes.

I play on my phone and laptop. I’ve set my phone to automatically replace terms like ‘lyn**’ with daykill. It’s really easy.

Settings > general > keyboard > text replacement, then type in the word/phase you want to use ie ‘daykill’ and type in the word you want to avoid ie ‘lyn**’ under the ‘shortcut’ option.

Old habits sometimes die hard. If you struggle like I did, maybe it’s worth using text replace.

Perhaps if we all got into this habit it would help us become more inclusive rather than assuming new players are male?

GM note: The "hammer" mechanic is being removed from this game as an experiment. I seek to test whether players prefer to have game phases always end at the predetermined time more than they prefer the option to end a day prematurely. I welcome all postgame feedback on this issue.

If it’s the post I’m thinking of (on mobile and not scrolling back atm), I also edited a bunch of nicknames / capitalizations to get everyone’s signup entries to match their forum handles exactly. I wasn’t meaning to discourage your practice (or even discourage nicknames) so much as I wanted the “official” list (to that point) to correctly reproduce everyone’s names only.

Privately I had taken notice and was going to consult with darg to ensure I used all the right pronouns.

On further reflection, including them in the signup list is a good idea so there’s an easy reference for other players in the game. For anyone who wants to volunteer them I will include them in the official player list (and will reproduce yours). Good thinking Maniac

Hi there! Have you played Mafia before? Just a word of warning, it does require a bit of a time commitment over a period of a couple of weeks (sometimes a little more).

If I say yes, will that make you trust me more in this game? Though the real answer is actually "not really". The game was getting silly and I wanted it to end. And it seems a bit silly to delay the draw just to cost you points.
