Wouldn't be simpler to say (2 on the 4th power * 3 on the 3rd power) * 2?

865 AD Kassiani, a Byzantine abbess and hymnographer, dies. She is one of the first Early Medieval composers of many hymns and a saint of the Eastern Orthodox Church.
I wanted it to look more interesting than 2^5*3^3

866 AD Pope Nicholas I forbids the use of torture, in prosecutions for witchcraft (unfortunately the Holy Inquisition lost the memo!).

Hundereds of years later, the Spanish inquisition effectively banned the execution of accused witches at a time when executing accused witches was common practice elsewhere.

868 - the number of eggs laid by Gertrude the chicken on a Suffolk farm before she became Sunday dinner. Most chickens lay on average 530 so Gertrude was very special and as a tribute was eaten to the live rendition of the Birdie Song played on the bag pipes. RIP Gertrude

869 - the number of socks I own. (I don’t know for sure if this is accurate but I’m willing to bet it’s an odd number).

I’m pretty sure in a thousand years people will still talk about Gertrude the Chicken when the Assyrian conquest of Northern Aram is long forgotten.

They'll more likely think about it in terms of the League of Legends variant.

December 31st did not mark the end of the year then. March 25th did.

New Years Day was shifted to 25th March in 1155 until 1752, so it seems Prince William was correct.

Oh. Ok. But NYD was 26th March.

This is why UK tax year starts 6th April. 26th March plus calendar shift.

872 - Pope Adrian II dies exactly 5 years to the day after becoming pope. He was a reluctant pope, being appointed in later years when he really wanted to spend more time painting and gardening. He was a sexually active pope who had a wife and daughter who were both carried off and murdered by the brother of the Church's chief librarian.

873 - Hampshire has the second-highest number of playgrounds in the UK, with 873. The highest of course, is London with 2,756.

874 - vikings attack my home town of Tamworth leaving it blackened for forty years. I was actually born in a small village about 5 miles outside Tamworth which probably didn't exist in 874.
