In China, a small rebellion occurs in the interior province of Huguang, during the Ming Dynasty; a subsequent rebellion springs up in Guangxi, where a rebellion of the Miao people and Yao people forces the Ming throne to respond, by sending 30,000 troops (including 1,000 Mongol cavalry) to aid the 160,000 local troops stationed in the region, to crush the rebellion that will end in 1466.

1465: The 1465 mystery eruption was a large volcanic eruption in the South Pacific identified from distant ice core records and historical accounts of atmospheric events around 1465.The exact location of the eruption is uncertain, but is likely the submerged caldera of Kuwae in the Coral Sea. The eruption is believed to have been VEI-7 and possibly even larger than Mount Tambora's 1815 eruption.

Troops under Stephen III of Moldavia decisively defeat the forces of Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary, at Baia (present-day Romania). This is the last Hungarian attempt to subdue the Principality of Moldavia.

On the plus side though, Corvinus does go on to found the first university in Slovakia, the Universitas Istropolitana in Bratislava.

1468 AD On February 3rd, the man who made the books easier to make and thus more accessible to more people, Johannes Gutenberg, dies.

The War of the Roses continues with the Battle of Edgcote, where the Yorkists are defeated and, King Edward IV of England is taken prisoner

1470 AD King Henry the VI is back on the throne and the war of the Roses goes on...

Henry VI did not last long however, as King Edward IV returns and defeats the Lancastrians at Barnet and Tewkesbury, killing the Prince of Wales and capturing his mother Queen Margaret. Edward IV celebrates his victories with a triumphal parade on his return to London. The captured Queen Margaret is paraded through the streets.

The same day Henry VI of England is murdered in the Tower of London, eliminating all Lancastrian opposition to the House of York

1472 AD On the last day of the year the city council of Amsterdam reaches one of the weirdest decisions in the history of the city administration, prohibiting the snowball war (the exact phrasing: "No one shall throw with snowballs, neither men nor (unmarried) women.")!

1473 AD Stephen the Great of Moldavia refuses to pay tribute to the Ottomans. This will attract an Ottoman invasion, resulting in a sound defeat for the Ottomans.

The Senate of the Republic of Venice enacts the Venetian Patent Statute, considered to be one of the earliest patent systems in the world. New and inventive devices, once put into practice, have to be communicated to the Republic to obtain the right to prevent others from using them.

1475 AD Stephen the Great of Moldavia defeats the Ottomans teaching them not to invade his land (while he is alive at least) and sultan Mehmed the II that taking Constantinople didn't mean he'd conquer the whole world.

1476 AD Vlad the III the Impaler is killed in battle, fittingly his head is sent on a stake to the sultan. Vlad passes out of history and into the legend inspiring the notorious Dracula.

1477 - Thomas Boleyn, father of Anne, was born.

The Spanish Inquisition begins

And it will go on for more than three centuries as it will be abolished only after Napoleon annexes Spain.

1479 AD Ferdinand II ascends the throne of Aragon, and rules together with his wife Isabella I, Queen of Castile, over most of the Iberian peninsula.

1480 AD - September 27 – Consorts and co-rulers Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile initiate the Spanish Inquisition (looking for heretics and unconverted Jews).
