Doge Reniero Zeno sends the Horses of Saint Mark, looted from Constantinople (see 1204), to Venice, where they are installed on the terrace of the façade of St. Mark's Basilica. Having visited St Marks - they are actually magnificent works of art. I'm pretty sure the Byzantines would've been pissed off about that.

1258 AD Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, proclaims himself Prince of Wales, first used in an agreement between Llywelyn and his supporters and the Scottish nobility. He becomes the last ruler of an independent Wales, before its conquest by future King Edward I (Longshanks).

1262 AD Castilian-Leonese forces led by Alfonso X (the Wise) conquer Cádiz, the city is under Moorish rule since 711. The Muslims are ousted, and Alfonso repopulates the region. Though a major victory is far from the end purpose. The Reconquista has far to go yet.

1263 King Alfonso X conquers Niebla from the Moors – terminating any Muslim presence in the western region of Spain.

In 1268 AD Baibars takes Antioch massacring its entire populace. Aided by the earthquake later in the year this massacre is the end of the ancient metropolis. It will last for 150 years but it will be diminishing by the year until it will be lost in the ravages of time.
