1214 AD - Emperor Xuan Zong of the Jurchen-led Chinese Jin Dynasty surrenders to the Mongols under Genghis khan – who have besieged the capital of Zhongdu (modern-day Beijing) for a year. He is forced to pay tribute (including some 3,000 horses, 10,000 'bolts' of silk and his daughter), along with subjugation to the Mongol Khan. Xuan Zong abandons northern China and moves his court to Kaifeng.

1215 AD John, King of England, grants the Magna Carta creating the first form of constitution in history. Ironicly most people know him as the "bad" brother of Richard the Lionheart than for this fact!

Ah my friend, what a pretty picture you paint of history: totally unfounded of course. John was a cruel coward - starving to death seemed his favourite method of execution which he did en masse with knights and nobles contrary to the Chivalrous standard of the day. He ran whenever faced with a force close to equal in numbers (as he did in Normandy and when the French invade in 1216). He was forced to the Magna Carta, and did not go gracefully. He attempted to seize the throne while Richard was in captivity, and levied the highest and most arbitrary (almost extortionate) taxes England had ever seen. He lost Normandy and Anjou, and England, despite the Magna Carta was notably worse off for his reign in every measurable way.
He was every bit a bad king, despite being unconnected to Robin Hood in any way.

Well, the comment was exactly on that, if ask someone about John, he will tell you the bad king who wanted to steal the crown, Robin Hood, etc. Actual history is thrown out of the window!

1216 AD: John dies and he is succeeded by his son Henry the III. Henry takes over a realm in real danger with French invaders and barons revolting. Yet he will overcome the obstacles and have a long reign until 1272 (the longest in Medieval time and the longest in England until George III who reigned for 60 years (since the latter was mad for the last years of his reign maybe this shouldn't count) and then Queen Victoria. Of course, Elisabeth II has surpassed them all and broke all records.

Wusti my friend, I have noticed before. You are very well versed in history, English history or in general?

October – Al-Kamil sends two captive knights as envoys, to renew his former offers of an armistice. If the Crusaders evacuate Egypt, he will return the True Cross (lost in the Battle of Hattin) and they can have Jerusalem, all central Palestine and Galilee. John I advised its acceptance, along with the nobles from England, France and Germany. Pelagius again refuses the peace terms.
November 5 – Siege of Damietta: The Crusaders enter Damietta and find it abandoned. Seeing the Crusader standards flying from the towers, Al-Kamil hastily abandons his camp at Faraskur and withdraws to Mansoura. Survivors in the city are either send into slavery or held as hostage to trade for Christian prisoners. On November 23, the Crusader army captures the city of Tinnis.

Pelagius was stubborn ash!

1220 AD: King Henry III makes large alterations to the Tower of London, including new curtain walls, and improved water-filled ditch, and a water gate to enter the castle directly from the Thames (clever boy, at the time he was only 12 years old)

1221 km is the estimated radius of the Earth's inner iron core which is about 19% of the radius of the Earth and 70% of the radius of the Moon.

Its volume is about 7.6 billion cubic km (7.6 × 1018 m3), which is about 0.7% of the volume of the whole Earth.

"The two 1,224-kilometre offshore pipelines are the most direct connection between the vast gas reserves in Russia and energy markets in the European Union. Combined, the twin pipelines have the capacity to transport a combined total of 55 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas a year to businesses and households in the EU for at least 50 years. As the project strengthens the EU energy market and reinforces security of supply, the project has been designated as being of "European interest" by the European Parliament and Council."

Francis of Assisi, while praying on the mountain of La Verna during a 40-day fast, has a vision, as a result of which he receives the stigmata. Brother Leo, who is with Francis at the time, leaves a clear and simple account of this event, the first definite account of the phenomenon of stigmata.

1,226 kg (2,702 lb 13.9 oz) is the world record heaviest pumpkin and was grown by Stefano Cutrupi (Italy) from Radda in Chianti, Tuscany, Italy. It was weighed at the 10th Campionato della Zuccone pumpkin festival held in Peccioli, Italy, on 26 September 2021.

The giant gourd had a width of 3.56 m (11 ft 8 in) and a circumference of 5.42 m (17 ft 9 in), also the largest size ever recorded in competition.

Cutrupi had a bumper crop in 2021, also claiming second and third place at the same competition with pumpkins weighing 978.99 kg (2,158 lb 4.8 oz) and 794.51 kg (1,751 lb 9.5 oz) respectively.

This bettered the record of 1,190.49 kg (2,624 lb 9.3 oz) set by a pumpkin grown by Mathias Willemijns (Belgium) as weighed on 9 October 2016.

Cutrupi's pumpkin also took first place at the European Giant Pumpkin Championship held in Ludwigsburg, Germany, on 10 October 2021. Because pumpkins lose mass over time after they are picked, by then its weight had reduced to 1,217.5 kg (2,684 lb 2 oz), which nevertheless still put it ahead of the previous world record.
