"1521, May 26–Aug. 13. With the help of native allies, enemies of the Mexica, Cortés captured Tenochtitlán and imprisoned Cuauhtemóc. Spaniards razed the Mexica capital and established Mexico City, which became the seat of government of the future viceroyalty of New Spain. The crown named Cortés governor and captain general of New Spain (Oct. 15, 1522). He distributed Indians in encomiendas to the conquerors."

1522 AD Pope Adrian VI succeeds Pope Leo X as the 218th pope. The only Dutch pope, he was the last non-Italian elected until the late John-Paul II.

It was a typo, the date was 1526.
Let's fix the line here.

1527 Spanish and German troops led by the Duke of Bourbon sacked Rome, forcing Pope Clement VII to make peace with Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, marking the end of the High Renaissance. The Pope grows a beard in mourning.

1528 Spanish conquistador Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca and his companions become the first known Europeans to set foot on the shores of Texas.

1529 AD, Vienna is besieged by the Ottoman forces of Suleiman the Magnificent. On October 15, Suleiman abandons the Siege of Vienna as the city shows no signs of succumbing while casualties, the weather and illnesses decimate the Ottoman army. This was the peak of the Ottoman expansion in Europe. It would go no more, and in the coming years, their frontiers would retreat.

1533 saw the Introduction of The Buggery Act in England.

The capitalisation of 'A' is important here.

1534 AD, Sir Thomas More is confined in the Tower of London. (It is always dangerous to disagree with the King).

1535 AD He is executed as he's still refusing to agree with the King!

And this is why monarchy should be abolished.

Don't worry; Prime ministers have their fair share, too, on such decisions.

1536 AD Henry VIII of England marries Jane Seymour. (the reason for the dispute!)

1537 AD Potatoe (Boil them, mash them, stick them in a stew!) is introduced to Europe for the eternal delight of millions of people in the aeons to come.

1538 AD The Ottoman fleet of Suleiman the Magnificent, under the command of the notorious pirate Hayreddin Barbarossa, defeats the Holy League of Emperor Charles V and Venice's fleet, under the command of Andrea Doria near the Greek port of Preveza. It won't happen again, partly because of Barbarossa's death some years later.

1539 AD, Henry VIII marries (again!).

1540 AD A Habsburg Spanish fleet, under the command of Bernardino de Mendoza, destroys an Ottoman fleet commanded by Ali Hamet off Alborán Island in the Mediterranean.
