1413 AD Henry the V of England succeeds his father Henry the IV. this heralds the opening of the last phase of the Hundred Years' War.

1414 AD – Joanna II succeeds her brother Ladislaus, as Queen of Naples. She is the last monarch to be of Capetian ancestry.

1415 AD On October 25 the Battle of Agincourt is fought. In the last of the major battles of the Hundred Years' War, archers of Henry V of England are instrumental in defeating an amassed army of French knights. The defeat is so heavy that France accepts terms that are almost unconditional surrender.

1423 - July 31 – Battle of Cravant: The French army is defeated at Cravant, on the banks of the River Yonne near Auxerre, by the English and their Burgundian allies.

1424 - August 17 – Battle of Verneuil: An English force under John, Duke of Bedford defeats a larger French army under the Duke of Alençon, John Stewart, and Earl Archibald of Douglas. Alençon is captured and Douglas killed.

1425 - Beijing, capital of China, becomes the largest city in the world, taking the lead from Nanjing (estimated date)

By this year, paper currency in China is worth only 0.025% to 0.014% of its original value in the 14th century; this, and the counterfeiting of copper coin currency, will lead to a dramatic shift to using silver as the common medium of exchange in China.

1426 AD At the Battle of St. James an English army under John, Duke of Bedford, defeats the French under Arthur de Richemont, forcing the Duke of Brittany to recognize English suzerainty.

1427 AD Radu II of Wallachia resumes the throne for the fourth time, but a seven-year struggle for it ends when he is defeated in battle, and probably killed, by Dan II, who resumes the throne for the fifth time (we talk about real political stability here!)

1428 AD English forces under Thomas Montacute, 4th Earl of Salisbury, besiege Orléans. Jean de Dunois, the Bastard of Orléans, commands the defenders. A few days later, Thomas Montacute is mortally wounded in an unsuccessful assault on Orléans. He is succeeded in command by William de la Pole, 4th Earl of Suffolk.

1429 AD Jean D' Arc commanding the French army lifts the siege of Orleans and turns the tide of the war. She then proceeds to see Charles the VII crowned. She defeats the English forces again and they are pressed to withdraw from many areas of France.

1430 AD Jean D' aArc is captured by soldiers of Philip the Good of Burgundy who ransoms her to the English.

1431 AD On May 30 Jean D' Arc is burned at the stake. Some years later her trial was nullified and she became a patron saint of France. To his shame, Charles the VII made no effort to save her who saved his country and his crown.

Year 1444 (MCDXLIV) was a leap year starting on Wednesday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. It is one of eight years (CE) to contain each Roman numeral once (1000(M)+(-100(C)+500(D))+(-10(X)+50(L))+(-1(I)+5(V)) = 1444.

1449 AD On January 6, Constantine XI Palaiologos is crowned Byzantine Emperor at Mistra; he will be the last of his house and also the last of the empire ending a line that started 15 centuries ago.

1450 AD At the Battle of Formigny French troops under the Comte de Clermont defeated an English army under Sir Thomas Kyriel and Sir Matthew Gough, attempting to relieve Caen.

1451 AD Ghent takes up arms against Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, things are going the wrong way for England and their allies.

1452 AD Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, officially declares war on Ghent while English troops under John Talbot, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, landed in Guyenne, France, and retake most of the province without a fight.

1453 AD On May 29th the City of cities, Constantinople falls to the Ottoman hordes who killed, raped and pillaged for three days.
On the other side of Europe the Hundred Years' War ended without a treaty, and England loses everything in France except Calais, which will keep for another century.
Because of these two major historical events, 1453 is considered the end of the Middle Ages.

1460

The 1460 is the original Dr. Martens boot.

Its boot's recognizable DNA looks like this: 8 eyes, classic Dr. Martens Smooth leather, grooved sides, a heel-loop, yellow stitching, and a comfortable, air-cushioned sole. Built to last, this unisex boot is made using one of the finest methods of construction: the Goodyear Welt — which means the upper and sole are sewn together in our heat-sealed z-welt stitch. The boot sits on our iconic AirWair™ sole, which is oil and fat resistant with good abrasion and slip resistance, and is made with Smooth, a lightly textured, highly durable leather with a soft sheen. Use our Wonder Balsam to keep your boots clean, protect the leather, and keep it soft and supple.

Also

Wars of the Roses – Battle of Northampton: Warwick and March defeat a Lancastrian army and seize King Henry VI of England. It is agreed that York will be Henry's heir, disinheriting the King's son Edward of Westminster, Prince of Wales
