It was a joke, I'd choose scum too. I even asked in the game thread to be recruited a couple games agoJamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 1:34 amI would. I mean, I'll be GM-ing this one, of course. But as a player, given a free choice, I'd choose to be scum nearly every time. I prefer playing as Mafia.
Ohhh, sorry.kgray wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 1:36 amIt was a joke, I'd choose scum too. inb4 emc is the alien proberJamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 1:44 amThe Aliens are fun faction with fun roles. I will reveal the listed role names but then go to bed, so as to leave you guessing what these roles are, until tomorrow.
Alien Prober
Alien Vanillaiser
Alien Bloodsucker
Alien Sympathiser
Bulletproof Alien Lover
Alien Psychotrooper
Alien Silencer
Alien One-shot Mass Redirector
The Alien faction has only a one-shot factional nightkill for the whole game. To make up for the reduced nightkills, Aliens have powerful roles. Also, if there is a tie in the endgame (which can happen in multiball setups), the Aliens win.
I'm glad SOMEONE is askin the real fuckin questions around here!
I have been thinking about that, yes. Whenever this setup is run on MafiaScum, they reveal the discards. I'm not entirely sure why, and my initial instinct was not to do so. I'm glad you had the same thought...
I'm a bit of a traditionalist on that count.President Eden wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 3:28 amI'm glad SOMEONE is askin the real fuckin questions around here!
Will I be allowed to announce my discard?Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 12:22 pmI'm a bit of a traditionalist on that count.President Eden wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 3:28 amI'm glad SOMEONE is askin the real fuckin questions around here!
I was around when +1-ing was banned in Mafia. My concern is that you can't immediately see who has left the +1, but faction members or partners who had decided to cheat would be able to look out for +1's by their dead chums, and the GM wouldn't notice. So I'm inclined to keep the ban in my game.
Yes, you will. I don't see a good reason to prevent that. Taking up Ghug's suggestion and not listing the discard pile means there's less danger of the game being broken by people mass-claiming their discards (remember there are also 22 cards that will never have been in circulation).
Has this ever actually happened?Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 12:22 pmI'm a bit of a traditionalist on that count.President Eden wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 3:28 amI'm glad SOMEONE is askin the real fuckin questions around here!

It actually happened that someone died and then after they saw the God QT, they then went through the thread +1-ing anyone who had declared a scum-read on a particular person, to indicate that that person was scum. This was a real event which actually took place, and that's why the rule was introduced.Chaqa wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 2:31 pmHas this ever actually happened?Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 12:22 pmI'm a bit of a traditionalist on that count.President Eden wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 3:28 am

You can see who leaves +1 from desktop. I don't think there's much likelihood of this happening. If mafia teammates were coordinating around +1s, there would be evidence in their mafia QT and they could be dealt with.
I would strongly ask and encourage +1s to be allowed in most games going forward.
I had forgotten we didn't use to disallow +1.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 3:13 pmIt actually happened that someone died and then after they saw the God QT, they then went through the thread +1-ing anyone who had declared a scum-read on a particular person, to indicate that that person was scum.
