I was going to guess Duke Nukem but that's sci-fi, broadly speaking.

...hopefully well known enough for our little game here.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 11:50 pmSo it's a character from a pre-1995 that didn't sell dramatically well, but who is nonetheless famous. Probably this means he went on to appear in a series of games which were more successful than the first one.
Don't forget they wouldn't be considered a mascot. So probably either not the main character of the game or part of a one-off game rather than a series.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 11:50 pmSo it's a character from a pre-1995 that didn't sell dramatically well, but who is nonetheless famous. That's some fuzzy logic there, be careful.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 12:53 amDon't forget they wouldn't be considered a mascot. Nope, not Johnny Cage.
Nope, not LSL, although that would have been another good one.
Nope, this was not a 1st person POV game.dargorygel wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 12:07 pmI was thinking Larry, too...
But... waiting on that answer:
Was this game a 1st person POV game?
I'm not sure I'd consider Larry as a "mascot", personally. When I think of mascots, I think of Mario, Sonic, Megaman, Ryu - the "primary marketing character" of those respective companies. This character isn't really that (just like Larry isn't/wasn't necessarily Sierra's primary character (I'm not sure who was, they made a lot of different games). If sweetandcool (or anyone else) wants to give a little more detailed criteria about what they consider a "mascot", that would probably help and I would re-answer that question at no cost.
I think that's about what I meant by mascot. Pretty much, if the character appears in several ads and merchandise for a company, then they would be a mascot. A company can have multiple mascots, but generally there is only one or two.DougJoe wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 2:21 pmNope, not LSL, although that would have been another good one.

I think that the character I chose is similar in a lot of ways, so I will still say that the answer to the "mascot" question is no.sweetandcool wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 4:01 pmI think that's about what I meant by mascot. Despite being the protagonist of a successful franchise, Larry probably doesn't count as a mascot.
19. No.
