me: hi bona, why didn't you say hi to me in the mafia chat
tfb: it's day time, there's no mafia chat
bona: actually, there's a day mafia chat in this setup
tfb: oh, I didn't read the setup closely and missed that
durga: Wait! There's a mafia day chat?

So to be explicit, the way I read the exchange, tfb either did a fake townslip or legitimately messed up and got the setup wrong. On the other hand, you made your comment after everything was clarified. That wasn't you not knowing the setup. It was you saying that you didn't know the setup unprompted. And that's a pretty big distinction in my book.

The problem is that there is no way anyone could highlight that strong of a connection so early. There is no way that Bona could answer that question well even if Durga is scum. The point of the post is to take Bona's attention away from her, not pose a legitimate question. It would be scummier if she hadn't already tried to openly disengage from the conversation multiple times, but as is it just reads annoyed.

If the game has half the number of people in it, the game will probably feel like it has less activity? Especially when 1 of the 14 people is Maniac.

Also I think someone said this recently, but I do agree with the idea that the existence of a mafia day chat could slow down activity in the main thread.

I think maniac’s style ends up being anti-town so if there’s a wagon, I won’t be sad. Whereas, there are people that I think are scummier but I’d be sadder to miskill if I’m wrong. I hope that makes a bit more sense

what actual evidence is there for these supposed awkward interactions? what possible weirdness is there with pyxxy? this entire thing has been turned around on me but the thing that started this was that durga tried to scumread me on the flimsiest possible basis and only retracted it after i pointed out that there was no ground for her to stand on. i don't claim to know anything else but this is frankly highly atypical for durga, as i see things.

Did Durga retract her scumread? I thought she just wanted the conversation to move on.

It also doesn't matter that you didn't read the entire thread. You were clearly responding to people saying there was a day mafia chat. And then you went out of your way to say you didn't know that existed. Your post felt weird and forced. I don't think it's a silver bullet, so I didn't bring it up when people were already wagoning on you, but it's almost one of the stronger feelings I have given it's D1 still.

@aaro - skimming your reads post right now and one thing that strikes me is that you use a lot of "this person is scummy because they do [x behavior] as scum", but that doesn't actually work as an argument unless they don't also do it as town. like i distinctly remember durga flexing about not reading the setup and being frustrated at scumreads in past town games as well

also, why did you feel the need to post reads on everyone at this point in the game? there's a lot of responses that kinda just feel like reads for the sake of having reads (maniac, pyxxy, rdr) and i'm wondering why you chose to allocate your time like this instead of focusing on specific strong reads

That's not what I said. I'd be sadder to miskill most people more than Maniac. However, I'd definitely rather get scum over miskilling Maniac. So if I think someone is scummy enough and Maniac is towny enough, I'm not going to vote for him.

I think Sabi is being very solve-y right now and I'm guessing will continue to be. And then for TFB and Jamie, my impression is that they don't lose steam late game which is a huge problem for town.
