If he wasn’t an astronaut perhaps he was an actor……

No. But I do wish I could meet the astronaut who was born before 1900.

That was Question 19. Last chance for free guesses, but honestly, I don't think you are close enough to the occupation to get it that way. I may have stumped you here.

I'll give you a small hint. Its writing that he is sort of known for. But he is not an author.

I'm really surprised you haven't circled closer to his occupation yet. A couple of questions commonly asked in previous games might have led you there much more quickly. There is at least one glaring gap in what you have asked about occupation.

1,4,5,6,7,15. Real dead human male, born in England (but not North East England).
2,10,12. Born 1821-1899.
11,17. Died more than 82 years old.
3,9,13,16,18,19. Not a writer, musician, royal, politician, explorer, general, admiral, scientist, artist, athlete, news broadcaster, engineer, inventor, spy, ambassador, pilot, astronaut, or medical doctor.
8. Left the British Isles at some point in his life, either temporarily or permanently.
14. Has an "E" in their first full name.

Not:
Charlie Chaplin (JustAGuyNamedWill)

(Not a question)
He could be a journalist, but I can't think of any names.

No questions for the QM in this post.

I feel like our standard categories of occupations goes something like:

- Known for involvement in politics, government, military, royalty, or nobility?
- Known for involvement in the arts (broadly construed)?
- Known for involvement in the sciences (broadly construed)?
- Known for athletic accomplishments?

I think that all four of the above have been satisfactorily dealt with. A next grouping of categories might be:

- Involved in business?
- Famous as an entertainer?
- A notable criminal?

We've been dissuaded from the criminal category. It is hard to come up with an entertainer who doesn't fit into the previous categories. A businessman is certainly possible, but we would have to find one who is famous for his writing (in a way).

Some other categories that may be interesting to think about: religion, activism, social sciences and non-art humanities (economics, history, etc.).

Scratch this. I wasn't aware how many novels and short stories PG Wodehouse wrote compared to their musicals and plays.

Of course there's always low-ranking military to consider. Not a question.

Scratched. But the creator of Jeeves deserves to be a subject of his own game.
Was he a famous economist, religious figure, activist, or a businessman?
No.

That was Question 20. You now have five guesses. Players have made free guesses can guess. No player can make more than two consecutive guesses.

Hint. This is the question I wish you had asked earlier; it has not been dealt with as dispositively as you think: - Known for involvement in politics, government, military, royalty, or nobility?

2,10,12. Born 1821-1899.

My guess is Edmund Knowles Muspratt, right age, right time, has an E, left the British Isles at one point, did some business and some science but perhaps not enough to be declared a businessman or a scientist, known for involvement in politics too but wasn't a career politician.

Wish I was quicker to the draw to have this be a free guess but oh well.

Warmer. But that's not even the missing occupation I was going for.

Hugh Grovesnor, 1st Duke of Westminster
No, but he is fascinating. The current Duke is Britain's wealthiest landowner. There is no "E" in Hugh.

1. Not Edmund Knowles Muspratt.
2. Not Hugh Grovesnor, 1st Duke of Westminster.

I'll add my traditional warmer/colder hints:

1. Not Edmund Knowles Muspratt.
2. Not Hugh Grovesnor, 1st Duke of Westminster - warmer.

He's also a politician who died under age 82...

If he isn't NOBILITY, or a ROYAL, then perhaps, knighthood? Not a question btw just something I thought of for us to maybe think about.
