As I understand the XOR boolean connector, it means "either a or b but not both." But the answer was "no" so logically either a and b are both true, or a and b are both false. In the context of this question, our entity is either male/alive or female/dead. Hominidae suggests that we can infer that the entity is not male, but I don't think we can exclude that yet, can we? Could the coders in the game please check my work?
I also considered the possibilities that the entity could be either non-binary gender, or neither living nor dead. I considered that it might be the COVID-19 virus. But we know that our subject is an animal, and viruses are not animals.
So my question is: is this entity male?

the interpretation of XOR is correct. I think we are assuming the entity is not male because it was born before 1700. I don't think there are any creatures currently alive born before 1700.

It's not yet established that it was born before 1700. All we know is it was "not born" after 1700. We don't yet know that it was "born".

Correct. When I said the thing about assuming it was not male, I had forgotten that we hadn't established humanity.

To clarify: that's not specific enough of an entity for me to pick (even apart from the question of whether viruses are living or not), as there have been, I don't know, quadrillions of individual virus particles. For the character I am thinking of, I am thinking of a particular instance of its type of entity (I once did Harambe: there are many gorillas in the world, but Harambe was a specific gorilla).

Well, we don't actually know that from anything the QM has said this round, but I think it's kind of assumed that the real entities have to be animals? I don't know. Would a famous tree be an acceptable target? A robot?
