On what basis were you ruling out South America other than Brazil?
Spartaculous asked if they were born post-1499 somewhere outside of Africa and the answer was "no", so in order to be born anywhere other than Africa, they would have to be very old.
The point is moot now that we know this being is fictional.

Source? Acc to Wikipedia, Pikachu is a "fictional species." And it attacks by shooting lightning, an ability I've been unable to find in any extant rodent species.
Question: Is this character part of the Disney universe?

1) no, not part of Disney
2) Pikachu are a fictional species of Pokémon based on a mouse. Pikachu themselves, while potentially being classified as rodents by our standards, are not real, nor are they fictional versions of real animals.
