Hi Balki
Hi!

Do you think we should have everyone say tomorrow something like: "If I were some kind of Cop, I would have visited player X and received this result" so that we will clearly have that information to analyze once the various Cops die and are revealed to us?

Given all of the potential cops at play, I don't think the bad guys will be able to use all of those hypo cop results very effectively, and the info for town will be quite valuable when our various cops flip.

Please discuss.
I feel like you may as well ask them to post the expected visit at EoN if we were to do this

Though I'm largely opposed to this plan

I have never ever played mafia before (and have now jumped into the deep end with custom things... this will be fun, i hope), though I cannot speak for DrFidelis.
My only experience with mafia itself is a discord bot that (according to memory) plays fairly similarly to this sorta forum-based mafia session. I've also had experience playing this one social deduction game on Steam called Untrusted which takes the social deduction genre and mixes it with a hacking theme.

I'm not overly fond of chopping a game into a mechanical grind
I feel like game types like item madness or something like this is best played in chaos, even understanding that one may well argue that it is "unoptimal" to do so

hey all, i hope we can have a nice clean game, without any murders, since I just got this shirt washed! blood is really hard to get out of fabric, or so I hear, and I'd like avoid further hassle! Think of the poor morticians, having to spend so much on a new, clean suit should I get murdered... how unfair it would be!

Okay, I can grok that as a general tendency, but can you give some more specific thought to the plan I proposed in this format? My feeling is that the multi-cop set-up here is uniquely suited for this particular plan because we're not really going to be able to use cop reveals very well until the cop flips. So cops are likely going to want to breadcrumb their results so that we have their info to use after they flip. By forcing everyone to provide hypo results, we allow our Cops to put that info in the thread without risk of laying breadcrumbs that can lead back to them. Also, because of all the Cop distortions, the bad guys are not going to be able to use all of the hypo posts to figure out who is a real cop and who is not a real cop.

So, I just think this plan requires more thought than "I don't like doing stuff with mechanics." I am not proposing that we use the hypo scan plan as the sole way of playing the game. We need to talk to each other and sort wolves from town. Adding a hypo scan is not a substitute for playing the game, it's just a useful way of ensuring the cop information is here in the thread for us when it becomes more useful.

Out of game conversation...

@Balki, how do you like MU? I've only played mafia here at webdip so I am interested in the differences you've noticed.

I'll tell you all a fun story.

I thought the game started an hour later than it actually did. I was confused, I could have sworn it started 3 PST. So I go back and see that when the startime was listed, it correctly gave the time if you are British. But the time for the East Coast and West coast incorrectly indicated the start time (due to daylight savings, I assume).

I assume most people would look at it and if they were in the western hemisphere they would use the incorrect time and be late to the game. However, people in prechat would definitely be ready to post at game start.

Consequently, any players from the West hemisphere who were posting at game start are incredibly suspicious.

Particularly, brainbomb.

Obviously this is not damning, but I think it is pretty compelling. Anyone who posted in the first hour who lives in the Western Hemisphere should be considered suspicious.

I haven't played there much beyond Champs. Maybe one other game?

I really enjoyed playing in Champs and I think there are some strong players on MU. I think it is worthwhile for someone who wants a bit more variety in the players to go over there and give it a whirl.
