Captain's Log
2249.2.17

Commander Ulysses, HMS Vigilant.

The search for the HMS Titan's final resting place continues. We're staging from the last known coordinates, but we're not picking up any signatures indicative of a vessel its size.

It doesn't seem like there are any survivors, though. Our ground team made it to a cave system nearby and discovered several remains, and the tags on all of them are from the exploration crew of the Titan. Six were found trapped in a cave-in with apparent gunshot wounds to the head. Another few more were found with obvious signs of self-inflicted injury. It seems they got trapped at various points and took matters into their own hands instead of waiting to run out of oxygen or food or water.

The team also found what they describe as a "manmade" tunnel that "looked like the entrance to a temple." We're sending a larger team in to explore.

Some of the men that returned are displaying slight signs of temporary hysteria, a normal consequence of exploration at such deep depths. Otherwise, there are no signs of difficulty, and we proceed apace.

Commander Isaac Ulysses
Commanding Officer, HMS Vigilant

JAMIET99UK has DIED. He was a ROYALIST [town].

EZIO has been ENDGAMED!

RDRIVERA2005, DAMO666, and HAMILTON BRIAN have WON!

DISCORD INVITE: https://discord.gg/rDZDPkhn36

Mafia MVP: rdrivera2005
Town MVP: brainbomb
Overall MVP: rdrivera2005

Town played a superb game for the first few days and then cratered down the stretch. rdr did what he did best - blend in and don't mess up a good thing. I thought town was going to steamroll, but it got bogged down in internecine TvT fights and I think got a bit ahead of itself after building a big lead. I thought brain had the most consistently good performance for town while he was alive.

I can't think of a GM that's ever actively disliked their original formats... but I did enjoy running this one. I might try to work PRs into the next iteration of this format, because I gather that y'all didn't find the various chats to be especially powerful or compelling from a game balance standpoint. (Fun, I hope - it looked like y'all enjoyed the chats, even if the general sentiment is that they weren't a very powerful mechanic.)

A big thank you to Mr. Foxcastle for cohosting with me and covering vote counts etc. when my work schedule didn't cooperate!

what we're giving out faction MVP awards now?

I demand that you do that for past games too!

And by demand I mean I insist.

Behest?

Stipulate?

Err, request?

Kindly ask?

Pretty please?

With a cherry on top?

Don't take it too hard. At the end of the day, it is mathematically a 50/50 decision so getting it wrong once isn't too bad. As long as you did your best, it's fine, we all are here to have fun. Sad we didn't win but I hope you will play with us again :-)

Also, to be totally honest, even when I tended hard to Jamie being town here, I don't fully trust myself to have made the right choice here. Jamie had me really worried by reacting this hard, so my doubts on my read grew. RD was smart to keep quiet to not contaminate how others read him and increase their doubt.

Ezio, good job in surviving so long to influence the game until the end. I was kicked out early so I couldn't do what you could. Take pride in that.

Eh you night killed. That's the biggest honor a town can get.

It happens. Did you ever hear about the game I lost town on a 50/50 hammer in a 3-2 situation by fakeclaiming-changing my role? XD

Well, I kinda like that I got N1'ed finally, but since it was only because I was towncleared and not because because of me being a danger for mafia because of my abilities (ok, it kinda looked like overall I was townread anyway, but that doesn't say much), it feels a bit meh.

At least I had fun with the messages. If there ever is a game where I can choose my power, tree-stump is ranking high for me. (just listen more to me in the future, maybe not for my mafreads, but my townreads were actually solid)

Argh.

I was sure it was Rdr.

Sorry I couldn't persuade you I was town, Ezio.

Thank you both very much.

It was a novel setup, and the flavour was good.

What, at the end, or when I swore at Vecna? (For the latter, I apologise).

Don't. It was on me. My participation in the mid game was very poor.
