1v1 is a large part of the site now. If you want a site ranking I don't see why you wouldn't include it.
So is mafia, let's include that in site rankings

I agree

Or at least I would if there were an easy way of doing so.

The entire purpose we had in adding unranked games to the site was to allow players to play non-competitively with friends or to try out new strategies without worrying about the impacting to points or rankings. Which is why any ranking system that does not honor that by separating unranked games (which 1 v 1's are) is flawed.

Jmo, we some discussion about that last month. The ideal scenario would be for us to introduce ranked 1v1 games to include them from now on. However if ranked 1v1 games aren't going to happen and people want 1v1 games to be included, I'm not sure what the correct solution is.

1v1s can never be ranked. It's too easy to farm points through them.

That's what I was told last time.

I mean, who cares about points but maybe that's another discussion.

Speaking of 1v1's, my 1v1 rating looks very inflated. I did play a lot of games recently, but it was mostly against inferior (I felt like, anyway) opponents

I have to agree with Yonni. When were points ever something we worried about beyond using them as a tool to stop new players joining games?

I did not appreciate that GR1 was not an Elo system. Does GR1 provide a lot more weight to past performances than GR2 because you don’t have to bet big portions of your rating even when you have a huge rating?

I personally use an Elo system when keeping track of ratings in my private league. One reason I like Elo is that when a player actually becomes better or worse, that change will be more rapidly reflected than a system that lets players rest of their laurels so a degree or holds them down to past mistakes.

Anyways I really like that this GR2 rates me as #1 active Gunboater on this site. That seems accurate to me. 8-)

They used to make you look big and bad and swole when you posted on the forum with a cool 3K chilling in your account
But the new forum doesn't carry that over (and shouldn't) so that edge is lost

It still has aspects involving multiple players and some level of coordination. 1v1 is totally different in spirit and in game, it's more like chess

Which is why gunboat in GR used to be weighted significantly less, same with live games. With the overwhelming focus being on classic press games.

1 v 1 is entirely meant to be a "for fun" alternative to live games. Which is why the owners made the decision to restrict it to unranked. The point farming was not the main or only factor in making that limitation on the games. Many people make 1 v 1 games as a communication tool or to get around silences to still talk to specific people. And it does not make sense to have games like that included in any ranking system.
