This summer has been a fun combination of Sherlock Holmes and Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher series.

Frankly they're a bit predictable, naive, and at times childish, but the Witcher books make for a nice mature contrast.

Spoilers for Sherlock. The person who it is blatantly obviously the bad guy from the start is the bad guy. Every single woman is perved over by Watson who explains in detail how especially hot he finds them. Everyone with a hint of a title is toadied up to to a sickening degree. Half of Sherlock's deductions are based upon blatant nonsense, such as a witness being excitable and unreliable because she's Welsh. Half of Sherlock's clients end up dead because of his sheer incompetence

I'm reading the first Altered Carbon, by Richard K. Morgan. I saw the trailer for the Netflix show, so naturally I went out and got the book.

Adani Mining (Australia) publicly released financial statements. You might think it dull but a company with just under $Aus 30 million in assets and over $Aus 1.8 billion in liabilities promises future excitement. Will a $US 1 billion dollar fund raising effort by Adani Ports be the twist in the plot ? Ring your sharebroker soon...

Recently Read. These authors can write:
Miles Cameron (Traitor Son Cycle)
Joe Abercrombie (First Law Trilogy)
Anything by Carl Hiaasen (Some are intended for adults, some for kids, either are good)
If you haven't tried Donald E. Westlake, try the Hot Rock. A movie was made long ago, but the book is better.

Doctor Sleep by Stephen King.
I hope that's good! I'm sometimes apprehensive when it comes to King. He takes too long to get to the point.

I just finished all 3 Arc of a Scythe books by Neil Shusterman. Gonna crack open Ready Player One here, next.

Well.i quickly read my two books about Trumptoad that I was given at Christmas, then promptly lent them to another chap.
Been reading snippets of 11th/12th/13th century history.. building and alchemy for research.
Today I borrowed a history book "Ancient Rome" by Mathew Dillan & Lynda Gardner, it's a university history curriculum book.. so it starts with early Republic (I think) & ends with Augustus the Emperor
Oh I also borrowed a picture book.. the world's worst cars.. UK.based author.

I'm re-reading Tolkein. Gonna see if I can get my hand on copies of the Unfinished Tales and some of his other lesser-known works.
