You can mute another player during the game. Does the muted player know they are muted?

I assume the muting is a way to prevent abuse. But I think it would be neat to make muting a part of the game as strategy or tactic.

In this way, if you mute a player, they would receive an automated response like, "[country] is not accepting your correspondence."

Or it could be an option. Where, "mute" just prevents messages as it does now. But there could be an optional automated message, or you could create your own automated message.

Or you could just write your own message telling someone you are muting them. If you need the gamemaster to send automated messages for you, you should work on your press. Personally, I would just never mute someone

Just curious... can you give an example of the tactical or strategic value of muting someone? Honestly i can't think of anything :?

There was a game, where if I do not mute someone who I had to work with, I would have lost my mind. He bothered me so much. So I played like in a gunboat. :)

And thus increasing the risk of a good stabbing. What do you think a player would assume if he sends press which you ignore? That you are about to turn on him and he may hurry to prevent that by attacking first. Are you sure it is a god strategy?

Muting is a tool.
It is a poor diplomat who blames his tool or cannot find use cases.

So I muted someone for accusing me of the loss, he was right but his language was so scathing that I had to mute, we were losing anyway I didn't need the communication :-D

I feel like it could be used strategically if you try to rally all the powers to mute one player. If you succeed, that player is practically just dead, and not able to communicate with anyone... but I doubt anyone could convince 5 players to mute someone unless they're a real piece of work.

It's a bad tool though that doesn't work well.
