Is it intentional for dipgpt1 to be playing all (gunboat included) France vs Austria games? It seems to be doing so.
No that doesn't sound right, it should be I think Fairbot playing those games. Do you have a game ID? I need to look into that

How is it playing in FvA? I'm surprised this is the first I'm hearing of it

It seems not to be entering its orders.

One bot in a game I am playing doesn't respond to press and doesn't enter orders until right before the deadline. Is this a programmed characteristic or unintentional behaviour?

I am curious. Is it dipgpt1? Because, if it is, it must be a characteristic trait; it did it to me, too.
The bots behaved very well; if I weren't aware that there were bots, I'd thought I was playing with quite laconic guys. And they stab, too!
I am not a great player, so my evaluation may be pointless, but I found the game both challenging and entertaining.

I had to look up laconic, and based on what I'd previously seen that's the last adjective I'd use.. They were so verbose and over the top, that it drove the players in the first trial game to totally hate it and think it was a psychopath (they literally accused the bot of being a psychopath and carried that through, which I guess isn't entirely wrong)

Really excited to look at the batch of games played and figure out the stats and what can be improved, hopefully next week I'll be able to do some work on this.

Definitely unintentional, I've got nowhere near that level of control at the moment, it seems I can only switch the bots between annoyingly chatty and annoyingly quiet. I'm sure it's because it was optimized for 5 min/phase games, which we just can't do for more than 1 bot, and it'll need some effort to get right

Is this bot also available in other languages?

Ask the bot?

I don’t know where I should ask it. Tried to start a game and it didn’t work.

Afraid not, but I'm sure there's a bot for that that could translate. Something might get lost in the translation of course.. but it might make it harder to tell it's a bot.

I've never been able to make up my mind as to whether it's best to have one site with multiple languages, or aiming to have multiple fork sites with their own languages.. I feel like if the tech was so good that the site could translate into other languages by itself then surely users could use a browser plugin to do the translation for them, and that would cover more sites.

It's like the efforts we went to to make the site cater to colour blind people; I think that's a good thing to aim for, but surely there must be browser / OS plugins that can do those colour blind adjustments in a much more personalised and consistent way than setting up each site you visit for your particular colour blindness.

Hey, are old bots going to stick around? I miss the times when the bot games could pass a turn every 30 seconds. It seems that dipgpt and it's friends take the entire phase, all the time, and it makes the games drag on, especially if I'm messing with a new strategy.

What do you mean by „sites“?

Websites like vdiplomacy.net or webdiplomacy.ru (there used to be Spanish and Italian ones, but I'm not sure that they exist anymore).

gioca.diplomacy.it, the Italian fork, is still alive somehow, although at the moment there is only 1 game running

Yep of course, are you having trouble starting a no-press bot game? I just went to https://play.webdiplomacy.net and started one and it seems to be working fine

Ah I noticed FvA games were getting assigned full press bots due to a bug, that's probably what you're referring to. That's fixed now and I've reassigned FairBot to the games that mistakenly got a full press bot.

I'm curious how the full press bot behaved in FvA, and surprised noone complained, as I'd assume it wouldn't have a clue what's going on in FvA

Did the survey, but will reiterate here that I only got to S02 before I paused the game due to another press game I'm in that I wanted to focus on.

Thanks for asking for feedback!
