Yorkshire vs Prosecco in their final 1v1. Pretty exciting stuff.

But also fuck 1v1s, eh?

Perfect in the first round except for a draw too, I think. Well done Puddings - meme and teccles in particular, I guess.

Most up-to-date scores with the GB1 draw and a couple more 1v1s in the book.

1. Yorkshire Puddings - 462.5
2. Prosecco - 400.5
3. Eastern Canada - 339
4. Great Lakes - 133
5. Greatest Lakes - 40
6. Sons of Vlad - 40
7. California - 20

However, for our bottom 3 teams a solo in the remaining full press game would be just enough to top our #1 team. Nobody is out of this yet.

Hi all, we have just one game left to go, and the standings are pretty clear.

1. Yorkshire Puddings - 619.5
2. Eastern Canada - 508
3. Prosecco - 420.5
4. Great Lakes - 321
5. Greatest Lakes - 60
6. Sons of Vlad - 40
7. California - 40

Yorkshire Puddings have been absolutely dominant, sweeping the 1v1s, and topping the board in all but one of the other games. Eastern Canada and Prosecco have, for the most part, been keeping pace with the leaders, but a poor showing in 1v1s by Eastern Canada and missing the draw in full press 1 by Prosecco have left both teams significantly lagging the leader with just the final gunboat to go. Both would need a solo to beat Puddings - although if my math is correct, Eastern Canada might be able to get it with a 2-way draw.

All other teams aside from those three have been eliminated. Great Lakes, despite a commendable showing, can only move up to 2nd place with a solo, or 3rd with a 2-way.

That's all folks! The last gunboat game has just wrapped in a draw between California, Eastern Canada, Yorkshire Puddings, and Greatest Lakes.

Which means the winner of the tournament is The Yorkshire Puddings!

They have had an absolutely spectacular run of the tournament, placing in every single draw in the Finals, and winning every 1v1. In fact, across both rounds they only missed one draw, and never lost a 1v1. It is certainly a well-deserved win, and congratulations to desdemona, Brumark, Scarabus, teccles and captainmeme.

I'd also like to spread some accolades to our second place finishers, Eastern Canada who made the Puddings work for every single point. After almost not making it to the finals, they came back and placed in every single draw, just like our first place team. However, they needed to go on a solo push in the last two games, but fell short. Still, it was a very, very strong performance in the tournament for them, and a well-earned second place.

The Italians round out the medal group, completing the shut-out of all the American teams. Our Final standings are as follows.

1. Yorkshire Puddings - 676
2. Eastern Canada - 566
3. Prosecco - 420.5
4. Great Lakes - 321
5. Greatest Lakes - 113.5
6. California - 99
7. Sons of Vlad - 40

Thank you to everyone participating that made this tournament possible. I hope you enjoyed playing as much as I enjoyed watching. Until next time!

You are a scholar and a gentleman Goldie. Thank you so much for organising and for cajoling us all like a herd of cats across the line. Huge amounts of work, more I am sure than I know goes into it. Must have been quite fun being able to see the chats of each team and laughing at us when we missed the mark terribly.

It was hugely fun playing as a team, we certainly had a blast and I want to thank my fellow puddings for that and for all the advice and support they gave me, I am sure we wouldn't be sat here basking in glory without that team sprit.  I learnt a lot from them, meme and teccles were epic in the 1v1s and as someone who struggles with gunboat watching teccles and have him answering my annoying questions of why are you doing that was great. Scarabus and Desdemona anchored our final by getting into great positions early on.

My heartfelt sympathies to ECAN, getting into every draw and not winning is tough, real tough. We couldn't believe as each game finished and ECAN and Prosecco were in each (till the last two). Well played to you both and the field in general- very high quality games

Good showing everyone!! Congratulations to the Puddings. I think I gained a new fondness for the public press game. Hat tip to my team mates Yonni, cdngooner, and Peregrine Falcon. Good minds and I enjoyed the conversations around the games. Peregrine also had his hands full trying to up my 1v1 skills. That's going to take some work on my part.

Gold, thank you for organizing, communicating, and dealing with things as they came up!

Very impressive results from The Yorkshire Puddings. You folks were absolutely dominant and certainly deserve this win!

Thanks to all the other players for the great competition. It was a lot of fun to go up against such good competitors.

Thanks to Gold for running this tournament so well; it was incredibly smooth all the way through, which is a testament to your work!

And thanks to my teammates most of all. I couldn't have asked for a better team. <3

Yeah, a massive thank you to goldfinger for organising and GM'ing very attentively, and to everyone who took part. It was a really fun tournament - talking through matches in detail with other people is a rare treat. While of course all of my teammates are individually brilliant, sharing ideas definitely raised the level of our game massively.

I really enjoyed that, and winning the silver was more than I expected. Proud to have gotten into the draws in all my games, against top notch opposition.

Great team experience with Hamilton Brian, Yonni and Peregrine Falcon. We will be spending the next two years practising 1v1's.

Congratulations to Yorkshire Puddings, Prosecco and all the other teams that made these such enjoyable games.

And mostly thanks to Goldfinger0303 for organizing and shepherding us safely and fairly to conclusion. This was most of a year in the making and we (the players) really appreciate all the time you gave.

Congrats to the Yorkshire Puddings, just a phenomenal finish from everyone on that team, especially in the 1v1s. Unparalleled levels of dominance.

So I've been away for a few days, but I wanted to join in congratulating gold medalists Yorkshire Puddings, silver medalists Eastern Canada, and - why not - also my teammates, bronze medalists Prosecco. But actually, congrats to everybody who played, all games have been quite high level and fun.

And of course, a big Thank You to our TD Goldfinger!

And may I say, thumbs up to Old Europe: three teams in the Final round, and 1st and 3rd place at the end.

I like to fiddle around a bit with the game stats. So this is my MVP ranking for 7-players games, just sorting by total points scored, and then by points in the finals. I, rather arbitrarily, set a cutoff at 170 pts total, i.e. around 30% more of the average result (454 / 7 * 2).

Code: Select all

rank	player team qualif	final	tot
1	Brumark yorkshire puddings	148,0	157,0	305,0
2	desdemona22 yorkshire puddings	154,0	151,0	305,0
3	Yonni eastern canada 154,0	149,0	303,0
4	cdngooner eastern canada 153,0	112,0	265,0
5	teccles yorkshire puddings	127,0	133,0	260,0
6	riccardo falconi	prosecco 133,5	114,0	247,5
7	gimix prosecco 66,0	151,0	217,0
8	CSteinhardt california 125,0 59,0	184,0
9	Peregrine Falcon	eastern canada 43,5	133,0	176,5
Once again, congrats Puddings & Canada. What else can be said?

And my MVP ranking for 1v1 games: sort by net balance (wins minus losses) then by performance (wins plus half draws divided by games played). The cutoff is a positive balance.

Code: Select all

rank	player team played	won	lost	drawn	perf	balance
1	teccles yorkshire puddings 6	6	0	0	100,00%	6,00
2	captainmeme	yorkshire puddings 6	5	0	1 91,67%	5,00
3	yoyoyozo	greatest lakes 10	7	3	0 70,00%	4,00
4	pyxxy cheesesteaks 5	4	1	0 80,00%	3,00
5	randaz20	prosecco 7	5	2	0 71,43%	3,00
6	roganjosh	great lakes 12	7	4	1 62,50%	3,00
7	90kicvesb	great plains 2	2	0	0	100,00%	2,00
7	gimix prosecco 2	2	0	0	100,00%	2,00
9	swordsman3003	se usa 6	4	2	0 66,67%	2,00
10	babbo natale	prosecco 1	1	0	0	100,00%	1,00
10	tr1285 great plains 1	1	0	0	100,00%	1,00
