The Next webDip Tournament?

#1 Post by umbletheheep » Mon Nov 02, 2020 3:59 am

The Briefing is looking to add some more tournaments to our calendar since currently the online hobby has 0 tournaments going for any sign ups. Is webDip going to step in to fill the void?

What aspiring moderator has an idea or what is coming down the pike we could start advertising?

Gunboat tourny? Or one with the long love letters about Sweden in the middle of the night that non ftf players call press?

If there's enough interest in a revival of the gunboat tournament, I'll do another. It's been 7 years but all the seeding code should still work. Gonna be a little more difficult now that I'm not a mod, but I doubt we'll have 70+ people signup either.

Why do tournaments need to be approved by moderators?

The site has developed additional tools for TDs to track and manage their tournaments (go to Games->Tournaments to see how it looks on the public side), as well as being entrusted with mod powers over tournament games. Prize point payouts must also be handled by the mod team.

I mean, anyone can organize a series of games on their own and that's fine with us. GR challenges happen all the time. But if you want the TD powers and editing the tournament page, and a prize...that requires permission. And anything with the sites name and reputation attached to it should be screened to make sure rules aren't broken (rules often formed as a result of past tournament mistakes, many of them my own)
