Ladies and gentlemen,

It was once famously written : "Nothing happens. Nobody comes, nobody goes. It's awful."

For a while, R2 of ODC 2019 seemed to be heading in that direction. A round and tournament which would last forever, after having started in February 2019. Diplomatically waiting for Godot.

But finally, what was no longer considered an actual possibility, has happened : all R2 games have been concluded as of today! Hurray!

Only one round left to go...

Good night!

Certainly a marathon not a sprint...

On the basis of some quick mental maths I have the scores as follows (I always seem to be a decimal or so if which I can never figure out why but shouldn't make a difference):

1.Belgian Bulldog 157.5
2.Swordsman 98.3
3.Brumark 75.5
4.Teccles 55.7
5.Your Humble Narrator 54.7
6.Napolean of Oz 53.2
7.Village Idiot 52.8
-----------
8.Ogion 49.2
9.Chesney 48.3

Does that match what others are getting? Congratulations to Bulldog for his scoreboard dominance and commisserations to Ogion and Chesney for being so close.

I've been reluctant to celebrate without an official TD confirmation, but these were essentially the same numbers I had.

Anybody official-like want to give this the rubber stamp of verification?

My numbers also essentially agree with those.

I'm going to take this as confirmation enough of the placements. Congrats to all the other finalists and very excited for this last game!

I love that most of you I've never had a chance to play with and from what I've seen so far this is looking like an incredibly impressive and interesting line up and really looking forward to getting to know you all.

As somewhat OCD about these sorts of things and an accountant by profession you numbers both being "essentially" but not actual the same as mine fill with a cold sense of dread. A mystery I must unravel. If not too onerous if you could let me know where the differences are via PM so I can investigate that would be hunky dorey.

My own hubris of course tells me that the error must be on your end.

I have your score at 75.7, rather than your 75.5. Probably just false modesty on your part.

Indeed, many congratulations to the other finalists! I'm really looking forward to it. The two of you I played with in the semis are excellent players in very different ways, and the records of many of the finalists are just ridiculously strong.

Chesney, i owe you some gratitude for this as well. Had you not drawn when you did in R2 G2 i don't believe i would have made the cut so thank you for that.

I feel like i've just snuck into the backdoor of a movie theater and waiting for an usher to catch me and chase me out.

Congratulations to the other finalists - ready to rumble as soon as everyone else is!
I should also say - I played with quite a few others over the course of this tournament who would not be out of place in the final - appreciate all the effort lots of different players have put into this one (as well as Durga and now the mod team in running it)

Whatever happens after this, I want to say that playing in the finals is a great honor. I know what it took for me to get there, and so I can infer what kind of effort it took for everyone else.

Thank you in advance for sharing some part of your life with me. I am looking forward to playing together.

And thanks for everyone who played in the tournament so far. The high level of participation is what makes this online tournament so cool.

Now all I have a to do is ensure I play well enough to not become a cautionary tale of “what not to do” on future articles on BrotherBored.

So, any indication as to when we may be looking to kick off these finals?

I say we call it a 7-way draw on turn 1 and co-reign as champions like Narnia’s Pevensie children.

But, if we can’t come to an agreement to role play as C.S. Lewis’s kings and queens, I look forward to clashing with you titans. Ready when you are.

To clarify the scoring system for the final - is it one board, sum of squares (aka board leader wins)?

Is there still a forced draw year rule in place?

Not that it matters in any way whatsoever, but Teccles what site do you call home?

Fun in these cross-site type tournaments to know what banners are getting flown. I think we’ve currently a good mix of WebDippers, PlayDippers, and FTF representation.
