DSS is awesome. Maneuvering your way into a 1-center draw is difficult and deserves a reward.
Yes, but not in a game that is force-drawn in 1910.

There ought to be some reason to stay in the game once you're in a bad position, most people would rather get vengeance than gain 1-3 points. I think giving a bonus to 4th place would be sufficient since usually the 4th place spot is competitive for all players.

@Condecension - I don't think that's necessary. Doubling the points given for SC's (or halving the bonuses for top 3) would do a better job than your proposal, I think. The goal would be to eliminate a small 5th or 6th place power from having mathematically better odds in the tournament from tossing the game.

This is a pretty good idea IMO.

Tbf, this result was due to a bunch of questionable decisions by me.

Well done to Tom Bombadil for the solo.

Its almost as if small countries face no penalty for throwing the game, because they get no points in a draw anyways.
Uh, but they do get points in a draw? Participation is already 1 point, and a center is 1 point, but you get 0 if someone wins. That means the system incentivizes people to prevent others from winning at all costs, since they get more points in a draw (at least 1 even if eliminated, which is > 0).

Halt - the thing is, 5 other people are getting 0's with you. That there are 21 people in a division and not 14 helps a lot (this scoring would absolutely not work with 14, whereas here it's on the fence) but the advantage gained by 3-4 points in this format is minimal. 3-4 points don't matter when the only way to get into the Final match (or advance a league) is to top a board. It's currently set up so that your only real path of advancing is to be one of the 9 people who will top a board. If you're not one of them, it doesn't really matter how well you do. But if you *are* one of them, the comparative number of SC's matter. If you're going to be at the bottom anyways for one game, you'll lose that "tiebreak". By tossing the solo, you at least pull about half of your competitors down with you.

Also, based on the time it is taking to get through rounds the plan is to run just a single round of the league each year. January - April/May ish. As the proposed second round in the year would likely run into the winter round for the following year.

If you're having one round per year, perhaps it could have 4 or even 5 games each round rather than having two rounds of three?

Matches have been posted to the tournament site but I’m swamped until Wednesday evening. So game links will go out then for round 3.

Which also gives people a little more time to sort out their round two games.

The format will likely change a little next season based on what we’ve learned from this season

I really, really think that the round three games should only start after all the round two games are concluded.
