Re: One Night Ultimate Werewolf Minigame [Hidden]
We need to sort this out. I thought the original player always performed the actions even if they got swapped (or looked at?) So how did the doppleganger get to switch cards with the hidden cards? I thought my switching would be replicated for the doppleganger. If not then it appears we have both s...

Re: One Night Ultimate Werewolf Minigame [Hidden]
So if Teccles and Maniac are both telling the truth, they are now both the *same* role, and neither of them knows what it is. Correct? I don't think so. I think: 1. Immediately after becoming drunk, I swapped my card with the centre card. 2. At the end, Maniac swapped with the centre card - which w...

I think the role that really shouldn't be claiming yet is villager.

Re: One Night Ultimate Werewolf Minigame [Hidden]
I agree that the troublemaker targets should claim if they were werewolves. I think if they were tanners or minions they don't claim that; no reason to tell the person you swapped with to screw with the game. I'm the doppelganger. I targeted Maniac, who I can confirm is a drunk. Swapped with the cen...

Re: Communicating with draw & cancel button in gunboat
One fun issue with "any kind of communication is not OK" is that it makes voting draw a very powerful communication tool. If it's illegal to vote draw for any other reason than wanting a draw now, then voting draw tells people your intentions in a way that's guaranteed to be truthful.

Seems fine either way to me. I'd probably name it the Apprentice Seer, but do not feel strongly

Re: Communicating with draw & cancel button in gunboat
To answer the OP, the two main meanings I've used/seen for draw votes when not actually wanting an immediate draw are: 1) I've given up on a solo, let's whittle a bit then draw. 2) This fight is bad for both of us, and I'm ready to stop. Of course, if the rules turn out to make such signals illegal,...

Re: Communicating with draw & cancel button in gunboat
I think the general rule ('Do not break game messaging/press rules.') is very hard to interpret here, because voting draw always communicates quite a bit of information. My own interpretation would have been that this rule does not cover the draw vote at all, as it's a game action not a 'message'. I...

Re: Communicating with draw & cancel button in gunboat
I couldn't find that in the site rules - please could you point me to it? There is a similar rule about Pause and Cancel buttons, though. In practice, I think that rule on draw votes is unenforceable and pretty odd - if someone is allowed to communicate "I want this game to draw", it's weird that th...

Re: seeking players for gunboat with EOG discussion so we can improve
With apologies for lateness, my EOG thoughts on Game 4 . I was Italy, and overall I never made much progress, hanging around for a while but failing to expand beyond the obvious 4 centres at any point. This can happen to Italy; it has great flexibility, but the other side of that can is that if you ...

Re: Soloing as Italy
No. Those are not on the same level. Your belief that Kie-Den is automatic is a belief; that belief is not shared by many Diplomacy players, including but not limited to me. Con-Bul is the most automatic move in the game. In my opinion, it goes: 1. Con-Bul. There is no valid alternative. 2. StP-GoB...

Re: If you could change one thing...
I would try to fix the problem with Turkey. ... How about splitting Bulgaria in two? The main challenge there is that only one can be a supply centre.. So we'd have Bulgaria (supply centre), bordering Rumania, Serbia, Constantinople, Black Sea and Macedonia. We add Macedonia (no sc), bordering Serb...

Re: If you could change one thing...
I would try to fix the problem with Turkey. Turkey is too easily defended once it reaches 5-6 centres. Since neither Austria or Italy can solo without conquering Turkey, this means that they should usually not ally with Turkey if they want to solo (especially Austria, who will have no fleets in such...

I have made the +1 counts in this thread members of the Fibonacci sequence, where possible. I encourage others to do the same.
