Larry Peery

Have just received an email from Doug Kent at Diplomacy World, advising of the passing of Larry Peery on 8th March. I never had the pleasure of meeting Larry but I'm sure that many of you did. He was a giant of the game, not necessarily in terms of playing ability (although no slouch) but certainly ...

Re: Online Diplomacy Championships 2019

Noting Durga's concern about too many WebDippers signing up, I took the liberty of adding myself as a reserve rather than extending the list further.

For the avoidance of doubt, though, if there's room for more I still want to play from the start!

Re: Official webDip Holiday: On the first day of Xmas, my zultar gave to me

107 signups, but only 60 +1's on Zultar's original post . That's 47 people who don't want to increase their chances of winning... You can see who liked it and cross-reference with the sign-ups for some public shaming! I probably shouldn't encourage that as a mod, but I don't think there's a rule ag...

Re: NMRs

NMR's are part and parcel of the game - even though they are unwanted. Ideally, everyone would commit to each game that they sign up to and then stick with it, even when it goes bad against them. But since when did we live in an ideal world? There are lots of causes of NMRs - most of which are not a...

Re: Difference between Draw/Cancel

First of all, welcome to the site (and to this marvellous game). At the risk of sounding condescening - which isn't my intention - vote Draw means the game ends as a draw, vote Cancel and the game is cancelled. Exactly how the points are divided in the eveny of a draw will depend on the scoring syst...

Re: Votes

A while back, I did suggest a variation whereby a MAJORITY vote could secure a draw - and exclude certain parties from a share of the points - but only the player with the highest SC count could propose it. Coding it would probably be a nightmare but it would bring on-line play 'in line' with F2F an...

Re: The mass exodus

I don't believe that there would be any issue with regards Hasbro - there have been cash prizes or ther equivalent in tournaments before. Thier concern would be intellectual property rights - which they would already have acted upon if that was an issue for them. Personally, I think Peterwiggin's co...

Re: How to approach potential S01 NMR?

NMR means No Moves Received.

Having said that, some players do intentionally leave their orders to the last moment.

At the point that the thread started there had been no NMR.

I'd be interested to know if orders got entered or not?

Re: What are "Notes" for?

So far as I'm aware, you can only see your own notes.

I'm not sure but I suspect that notes exists to make the coding simpler .

I have used it in to record my DMZs/agreement deadlines - but I don't tend to use it now.

Re: World Cup

Saturday's game is a dead rubber - just like last week's Group match. Expect England to put out a fully changed 11. If Belgium want to play their full strength side then let them. Sunday's final could honestly go either way - and should be all the more interesting for it. I think that France are sli...
