Re: The Ashes 2021/2022

Well I have visited the hardware store near Paradise Lost Cove and purchased half a dozen hardwood stakes and a passionfruit vine for $Aus 27~ & got a stamp on my loyalty card. I was tempted by a pair of pruning gloves and in the discount Ed stuff near checkout a 910mm long aluminium straight edge m...

Re: Unvaccinated sperm the next bitcoin?

Randomiser has pointed to the obvious problem with the suggestion. However it is true that male fertility rates are dropping significantly which means that there could exist opportunities for the future minority of Chaps who have highly potent sperm. Perhaps future genetics technologies will allow r...

Re: The Ashes 2021/2022

The Tourists, all out for 185 on day one. They did well to get Warner's wicket before stumps bringing in Nathan Lyon as a "watchman" & he did his job. Day two: Jimmie Anderson & his colleagues may have had a sizeable dashes & squirts of Worcestershire Sauce on their cold Eel pies for breakfast becau...

Re: Codazen & FAIR 3rd party dev work

In the future, one of the requirements of AI "servants" will be in the decision making process for the AI servants of when to obey a command and when to disobey. What makes Jeeves a superb Valet, or Gentleman's Gentleman for Bertie Wooster is that Jerves knows when to disobey Bertie Wooster's instru...

Re: Codazen & FAIR 3rd party dev work

Congratulations. I liked playing against the BlighterDalekBots. I've had some interesting experiences with them when I've got to ~12scs and a defacto multi BlighterDalekBot alliance has formed against me & I get an army through their front line on /near the stalemate and attack unoccupied scs. Getti...

Re: The Ashes 2021/2022

Pat Cummins, 9.3 overs, 3 wickets for 27 runs. Malan out. Drinks. Root has been critical of his bowling attack in the first two test matches. Yet it's impossible to win test matches in Australia if your top four batsmen don't score enough runs in the first innings. The West Indian teams under Clive ...

Re: The Ashes 2021/2022

The Tourists find themselves in a bit of strife early on day one of the third Test match in Melbourne, two down in the series, lost the coin toss and sent in to bat, they've lost two wickets to Australian Captain Pat Cummins who has taken the two wickets for 8 runs England, 2 out for 14 runs, Malan ...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

One thing which I will agree with Wusti on is the distances we drive in Australia vis a vis Europe. I've just done a 200km round trip from Flyblown Gully by the Sea to Adelaide for Christmas lunch, then visited a friend in the suburban sprawl, back to Flyblown Gully by the Sea. When I worked for Fuj...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

However as anyone who has dabbled in statistical analysis finds out, it's complex. Per capita metrics are a widely used statistical analysis tool for a multitude of good reasons which I do not intend to elaborate as I am no expert in statistical analysis. What I am asserting is that using a per capi...

Wusti, per capita emissions of Greenhouse gases are not the "only criteria of any importance" and I have never made that claim.

Wusti, I did not intend to imply that you are a puppet for the Australian Coal Industry, unless you're Queensland MP Matt Canavan, one of his colleagues receiving donations from the Australian Coal industry or a paid lobbyist for the Australian Coal industry.

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

Let's settle down a bit. Wusti your assertion that I am fixated with nuclear fission energy is incorrect, I am ambivalent, I'm an old duffer so less invested than whipper-snappers. Economics & Science should be the criteria used to decide. If anyone appears to be fixated, is it you Wusti with your "...

Thank you Ghenghis for putting me on the list at 57. There's only a few lists at webdiplomacy that have me in the top 100. Various hit lists or lists of dissidents mostly.

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

Wishing, when you say our coal consumption is minuscule is that a per capita comparison or a cruder comparison that doesn't allow for differences in populations . We Australianns like to think we don't have a big environmental footprint, aren't big energy consumers because we have a relatively small...

I also believe you are way out with your assessment of how long it would take for enriched Thorium technologies to be developed, (possibly a century) This is not still at abstract, theoretical stage, these technologies are in development or in use, albeit limited to India for electricity generation....

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

I think the estimate on thorium is Australia has about 30% of known global deposits but that was ~15 years ago. So we can choose, it's not as if Uranium is our only horse in the race. With regard to Plutonium, it's not a matter of being precious about an element I may have affection for or not have ...
