Re: Moderator Team Announcement

My two cents, for all the people who know Magnetic and enjoy their company, might be good to reach out and let them know you still care about them. Getting banned/losing this community is certainly going to add to their stress and they would probably appreciate it. To be clear I trust the mod team a...

Re: Should you ever *not* take Galicia in 1901S?

for gunboat: probably not. Call me unimaginative (you wouldn't be wrong), but all the ways that things can go wrong for Russia due to Austria, or for Austria due to Russia, start with a capture of Galicia. As a newer gunboat player I've definitely suffered from not taking GAL a few times. But I thi...

Re: 7 Gunboats

I have a bit more pause requests than I thought: This weekend Nov 01-03 Most likely not needed: Nov 08-10 Nov 22-25 If that's too much, find a sub. I'm happy either way. These months are busy. That's fine. @pyxxy - I'm afraid I'm looking for players with more of a standing in the community. Sorry, ...

You lost your three games already?
I have a long series of excuses! A little to drink, not practicing, forgetting that the bots got better, playing after midnight, not renewing the blood sacrifice I made for success in the first round. Lots of room to improve.

Re: Introducing the first ever webDiplomacy Terminator Tournament!

I haven't played any games since the bots were reworked. I may need to invest time into playing a few dozen more before I play my tournament ones. You will need to. Just went 0 for 3 and it's definitely because I didn't prepare enough. I can only blame one loss on being Austria and getting mobbed :...

So, each time a game is created, it gets a unique number, and if it then fails to get enough players to start, that number is still used up?
Yup, looks like it. Typical database unique numbering stuff.

If you want to watch some pros resolve moves (and also some high-level F2F with commentary/analysis), these youtube videos are part of a whole playlist following the top board at WorldDipCon 2016. Specifically I've set the links below to when they start resolving orders. They're not the most helpful...

Bloody hell. I blamed it on a dodgy telegraph operator!

Probably shows I am a real newbie!
I did this and the experience taught me always use the move preview button. Now I'm happy and carefree when entering orders...although I've still messed up a convoy or two.

Oh wow, I had never heard of the full press variant of Italy doing MUN -> BUR in 1902, that's pretty clever. And it definitely would have been an option with France missing builds early in this game. Thanks for your thoughts!

Re: Anatomy of a Critical Gunboat Turn: Austria, Autumn 01 - Spring 03

I'm told we do not have a way to tag spoilers... so just know this entire post is spoilers for those who still want to try their hand at solving. When determining friends and foes just from board position in gunboat, you need to look at two things: the lines of play available to your opponent and t...
