Re: International Women's Day

It feels a lot safer agreeing with that sentiment when it's being said by a woman (or someone in the XYZ group on XYZ day more generally), but I know what you mean..
(Don't cancel me)

Interested what you mean about it being intentionally uncomfortable JECE, don't quite follow

Re: Sandbox feature

I think that it is a good idea to have a sandbox. I found this sandbox very helpful when analyzing complicated board states: http://gamesbyemail.com/Games/Politics/Judge In case it helps, a decade ago webDip user SunZi released "Little Dipper", a useful Android app Diplomacy sandbox based on webDip...

Re: I heard y'all still need volunteers?

Hahah thanks pyxxy. We're actually doing alright at the moment; there was a bit of a crisis point but these days the backlog gets cleaned fairly regularly. There are still some gaps in dealing with cheaters, but it's more of a system issue than a mod issue. I'd like to bring more mods in to have mor...

Re: International Women's Day

I always feel a bit uncomfortable when I think women should be respected for the remaining 364 days of the year far more than they actually are, not just today. That said, I'm happy to join Jamie and give my Best Wishes to All Women here and everywhere Uh, the point of International Women's Day is ...

Re: International Women's Day

After one whole day of respecting women I'm just drained gimix.. I think one day/year is enough. It's a slippery slope with these things..

Re: Feature request: filter options in New/Open games

We do have the search feature but I think it's a valid point that joinable games aren't as prominent / easy to get through as I'd like. I'd also say the active games should be more prominent

Which link are you trying to use? Apologies there are always a couple of kinks with these sorts of changes

Re: Push Notifications

Ah right .. I guess that's true it does ask once per device. Bear in mind it's going to be about sending warnings that you need to submit orders, game updates etc, all opt in and easy to turn off. Either way it should only ask you once per device. If it is a continual issue I might try and make it h...

Re: Sandbox feature

Righto, making good progress on this, it's working well, last thing to do is get builds working properly in the point and click UI and it should be ready:

Will probably add another option under the games menu for people to create new sandboxes.

Re: Homepage layout

Hmm good point I didn't see how it looked on mobile. Any other thoughts on using the site by mobile? Do you use the point and click UI or dropdowns, as I imagine dropdowns were pretty painful on mobile

Re: Old map disabled?

Yep the old map isn't going anywhere, but for new users I think it's a slam dunk better, easier to learn, more swish, mobile friendly, so I think it makes a better default. There'll be some teething issues which we'll sort out

Righto no big deal, was just curious how you implemented it, (but I also don't want you to be caught off guard that the AGPL is a share-alike license) Lots of good improvements. :o hope it helps the hobby in Ukraine, I think a Russian language site dedicated to conquering europe is a good place to ...

No worries; using a short-work-week to take a whole week to geek out on webDip and cross some things off the list, reminds me of being back in uni :)

Re: Defaulting to point and click UI for non-variants

Hmm, that's weird it does seem to work here. Which game ID is happening for you on, and does it fail with any error message or does it just not do anything?

Re: Defaulting to point and click UI for non-variants

Hmm, that makes sense.. I've made it so the icon right below the map on the dropdown UI opens the point and click UI, instead of opening the large map (which seems redundant at this point), so this should let advanced players use the dropdown UI but open the point and click UI easily I'm not totally...
