Re: Guess the Word

The size of these items may vary, but normally they would be too large to shove in you without causing serious internal trauma. Whether or not this thing is flammable would depend upon the materials it was composed of. Are you sure? A flammable material catches fire immediately upon contact with op...

Re: Excused missed turns for replacement players

I think there should be a ranking in the hall of fame that counts the number of games taken over by people. These saints need the recognition. We used to have yearly awards which also recognised the person that took over most CDs. Unfotunately, the admins are very busy. In addition, for some reason...

Re: Excused missed turns for replacement players

I might be mistaken, but I believe taking over is already Unranked in terms of Ghost Rating (which is what actually matters, to most). I also believe the uptake of abandoned powers is currently near 100%, so in that sense no improvement seems to be needed.. That said, thank you for devoting your tim...

Re: Full press live game

Have you tried the Discord servers aimed at live FP? Might be able to find some more participants there.

I'd have loved to join if it didn't start at 4AM.

Re: colored units

Yes, people have struggled with this before. It takes some getting used to, but after that we feel this is the best representation we can provide.

A lot of people don't know province names by heart ;-)

Re: How often do games draw?

eCarnage 2020:
1st round: 1908, 1910, 1907
2nd round: 1907, 1907, 1907, 1907, 1907 (time limited??)
3rd round: 1910, 1906, 1907, 1906, 1906
3rd round: 1907, 1906, 1904, 1907
Top board: 1907

As suspected, virtual events seem to go later.

Re: How often do games draw?

At Carnage 2019 (FTF) I was the only one voting against a 1904 draw. I was on a shared board top at the time, but I didn't fly 9 hours to play for only 2 hours.. Another game even drew in 1903. I don't think any game went past 1910, so 5 hours tops. EDIT: I figured I might as well check. 1st round: ...

Re: How often do games draw?

I've found that Carnage scoring prevents solos in practice. So many early draws because people are content with their current rank..

Re: Gunboat Diplomacy Stalemate Lines

I see. And by minimum stalemate line, do you mean a line with fewer than 17 centers? In that case, would I be purposefully giving up centers? Is there any example of such a strategy working? This is a recent GB where I gave up a couple of centres and some position, so a 5WD could become a 3WD: http...

Re: How often do games draw?

A 76% draw rate is too low?! That's about as high as I've seen. ... That stat is quite skewed too as most of my FP games were live. I expect there are fewer eliminations in those, due to time constraints. In my definition, a carebear sacrifices solo chances to have a draw instead. This would be a c...

Re: How often do games draw?

Looking at the top 10 player by ghost rating, their average draw rate is 47.5%. That means the draw rate in their games is at least that (but not much higher because they don't have a ton of games that they get eliminated from that end in draws). Their average win rate is also a fairly remarkable 2...

... I continue to sincerely campaign for the return of PPSC scoring as an option, and I am encouraged that you can see the benefits of that ... Bring back PPSC. Have WTA as the default, fine, sure. But the removal of the PPSC option was done badly at the time and there is a case for it to be return...

Hi!

That seems like it shouldn't be a tall order..

You could join the Counting Game in this forum. Just post the next consecutive number and add a little story about the number..
