Re: What makes your life worth living?
Christianity is a very catholic religion. The Catholics, ironically enough, not so much. A great many Christians don't have any belief in original sin

Re: Proof God is real
It seems a big part of the whole Christian thing. I know you're not a Christian but as an atheist we regularly have to put up with Christians warning us we'll go to hell. Regularly? You're going to the wrong sort of parties, mate. I don't think I've ever been warned I could go to hell, other than i...

Re: Proof God is real
Because an atheist who grounds their views in evidence-based reason will NEVER assert something as an absolute immovable truth without a damn good foundation of verifiable evidence. The delusion is strong in this one  I'm afraid life doesn't work like that. Looking at the evidence is a good r...

Re: Proof God is real
Why are you all always so desperate to link God with hell lol. Are you afraid to face the idea of God on its own so you bring in hell to make it easier to argue against? It seems a big part of the whole Christian thing. I know you're not a Christian but as an atheist we regularly have to put up wit...

Re: Proof God is real
Either he has chosen not to reveal himself to me, or he is not omnipotent, or he does not exist. In what way would it be advantageous to God for you to know He exists? There must be the possibility of doubt for faith to have any meaning. There has to be the possibility of God's non existence for hu...

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 68
Did her husband have a knighthood? 13. No. Her husband doesn't have a knighthood and it's not Jane Austin? Then the only person it could possibly be is Hilary Mantel or the Queen Mother, and I don't think the Queen Mother's passion for writing erotic literature is widely known... Is it Hilary Mantel?

Re: US Midterm Elections
If you view the Republicans as a united monolithic bloc vote you'd have a point, but what we have in reality is a Republican party about to engage in a titanic power struggle. Speaking of monolithic bloc votes, the reason that Georgia has a runoff rule and could potentially see the Democrats lose th...

Re: US Midterm Elections
Well... we're dangerously close to getting the ideal result. Who'd have thought it? What, pray tell, is your ideal? Divided government...both sides will need to compromise to get anything done. Largely no BS complaints of voter fraud. It has been a quiet day. Also Trump didn't have a good night vs....

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 66
I would argue this is a subjective question. What may be a left winger to Jamie might to me be a rabid right winger. Or vice versa of course. The general mainstream media view would present her as left wing, I think the answer I have given is fine. I don't doubt your answer I just think this sort o...

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 66
I suppose one's opinions on Communists will be largely shaped by family history and personal experience. Someone who is from one of the more infamous former Communist states, for example, would be understandably very anti Communist. But yes, as you say, very much one for the politics forum

So it's a left wing living (or undead) likely Yank (but possibly just New World) lass (or at least someone not identifying as male).

Re: US Midterm Elections
It's either a sad reflection on the state of American political engagement or a sad reflection on the state of the forum. There seems to be an unprecedented lack of energy about it all, and with the world in the state it's in you'd think there'd be a sense of urgency
