Re: Your country is complicit of Genocide

And you just said you are "starting to wonder how light are the accusations of terrorism against hamas". Now I'll ask again, what exactly do you mean by that?

Re: Your country is complicit of Genocide

Also, I'm starting to wonder how light are the acusations of terrorism against hamas, but for the sake of this discussion I'll just go with the supposition that hamas is indeed a terrorist organization I find this astounding, but for the sake of the discussion I will allow you to explain the commen...

Re: Your country is complicit of Genocide

I can, but I really don't see how it's relevant. My criticism was of South Africa playing games, not a general condemnation of politics. The game in this case being the use of the Gaza war to win favour at home and with various other nations.

Re: Your country is complicit of Genocide

The „crime of crimes“, allegations of genocide should never be made lightly. We oppose any attempts to politicize the ICJ. - A joint statement issued by the Austrian Chancellor and Czech Prime Minister You can criticise the Israeli army for acting too harshly in the Gaza strip, but that is not geno...

Re: War, what is it good for?

It was hard enough to find in the first place, and now searching for Iran now brings up countless stories about Yemen and threats being sent back and forth. The assassination of Mousavi was pretty well covered, though. That should be easy enough to find

Re: War, what is it good for?

Do you mean the terrorist attacks inside Iran by Islamic State a couple of weeks ago? Or something else? No, although you could make a strong argument that Iran focusing its intelligence agencies on threats from the West and Israel left it more vulnerable than usual to its other enemies. Iran has e...

Re: War, what is it good for?

Ahh... It appears we're attacking Yemen That took longer than I anticipated Oh wow a conversation which actually has to do with the original purpose of the thread, great. The situation in Yemen is a tragedy in which Saudi Arabia and Iran, who are effectively carrying out a proxy war on Yemen's terr...

Re: War, what is it good for?

Fritz has his own conversation with God that clearly suits him very well. There's nothing that I have said that is remotely critical of the way Fritz chooses to go about things. Christianity is very catholic, in the true sense of the word Part of the problem we've been having, however, is that Frit...

Re: War, what is it good for?

It is. It fits into the observable universe without friction and provides guidance where guidance is needed. It very much works for me. It feels right. Fritz has his own conversation with God that clearly suits him very well. There's nothing that I have said that is remotely critical of the way Frit...

Re: War, what is it good for?

One of the greatest things about the Bible is that it contradicts itself quite blatantly. The gospels in particular have quite differing accounts of the same event. This is God shouting from the rooftops that we shouldn't take it word for word. Consider the Bible as a map for your spirituality. As e...

Re: War, what is it good for?

though he can't be mad when that makes it a little easier to be agnostic about his existence. You do have some odd notions about God. Not quite as odd as Jamie, who is fixated on some cartoon version of the old testament God, but odd nonetheless. What makes the notion of God getting mad at agnostic...

Re: War, what is it good for?

Lol! By speaking to Jamie I don't mean he has some kind of heavenly Zoom meeting followed by shining a Men in Black device in his eyes to make him forget  I supposed you meant it in the nebulous, unverifiable way of God's presence and message being embedded in our very minds, in every tree lea...

Re: War, what is it good for?

But they believe in different Gods than the one you believe in. Brahman is not especially different to God. I see no reason to believe that Brahman is anything other than God speaking with a voice that resonates better with that population. God doesn't speak with one voice. Someone reading the Bibl...

Re: War, what is it good for?

I have never needed to defend myself in court, nor do I intend to be in such a situation in the future. Again, over a billion people currently alive today believe in Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Saraswati, Lakshmi, Parvati, and their various divine pals. Does this prove the existence of those deities? It...

Re: War, what is it good for?

I would also be fascinated to know the basis of Octavious's implied claim that the ancient Greeks did not believe in their own gods. I'm simply saying that I don't know the extent and nature of ancient Greek belief. I have no idea whether the temples were attended by everyone, or half the populatio...

Re: War, what is it good for?

Tell you what, next time you're in court base your defence on your best guess of what dead people may have believed to be true, and let us know how you get on. It's chalk and cheese, mate. I have never needed to defend myself in court, nor do I intend to be in such a situation in the future. Again,...
