Re: Coronavirus
What makes you think Trump is just guessing? His statement is in perfect alignment with that of Chris Whitty (Chief Medical Officer for England, Chief Medical Adviser to the UK Government, Chief Scientific Adviser at the Department of Health and Social Care and head of the National Institute for Hea...

Re: Coronavirus
Trump is, rather unexpectedly, quite right. 3.4 percent of reported cases dying is not a mortality rate. A mortality rate is the percentage of people who contract the virus who die, which is a very different thing and substantially lower. The simple truth of it is the Democrats are wrong and Trump i...

Re: Coronavirus
So, some good news about the Coronavirus pandemic. It's looking like the mortality rate is somewhat lower than 1%. It's unfortunate that we have failed utterly to contain, but it could have been considerably worse.

Re: Fear, Turkey, the EU and regufees...
The military of an EU member state is shooting at refugee lifeboats and its Erdoğan that gets all your criticism? Greece should be being slated by the EU, not given unconditional support. Is the EU really so scared by the rise of the far right they are willing to countenance this kind of action?

Good God... Trump is the youngest male candidate left in the 2020 presidential contest.

Re: Who would be the best candidate to defeat Trump (for the Democrats)
You do know the president's wife not only has a separate bedroom in the White House on a different floor, but for most of his term she slept in a different city. :) Surprisingly enough the sleeping habits of the President's family have not been of massive interest to me. Thinking about it, though, ...

Re: Coronavirus
Really? I'm pretty sure we have confirmed cases, they must be testing something to confirm it... Yep, we have tests that can confirm that someone with a severe case does indeed have it. But we don't have any tests that can reliably confirm whether someone doesn't have it. Which, when preventing peo...

Arizona they got sent inaccurate test kits in the county with a confirmed case. This means 2 week to send samples to Atlanta CDC for testing. https://www.abc15.com/news/state/lawmaker-says-defective-coronavirus-test-kits-sent-to-arizona-slowing-testing-process There are no accurate test kits. Re: Myth
My favourite local myth is of Dead Man's Acre. On the local common is a square fenced off plot of land that looks extremely out of place in the common. The story goes that an offer was made to the common folk that anyone who could enclose an acre or more of land in a single day would be recognised a...

Re: Coronavirus
No signs of any craziness in the UK so far. I've had a cold for the last week and not so much as a funny look. It's in the news a lot, and is making its presence felt as a popular subject in jokes, but that's about it.

Cnut hasn't been king for a thousand years. How old do you think some of us are?!?Randomizer wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 4:19 pmFor those that are too young to get the reference, Google King Canute and the sea.
But good to see you comparing Trump to a famously wise king. Nice to know you're not completely biased against him.

Re: Do Roman records prove Jesus' existence was a hoax?
The Roman's had great record keeping and, much like we do now, when the records no longer served a purpose they were destroyed. One of the finest sources of Roman writing in existence comes from a failed attempt at record destruction at Vindolanda.

...how so? In what possible way could someone misunderstand Trump saying that there are 15 victims of the virus in the US as him saying the virus is a hoax? I can sort of understand someone hearing just the first bit getting confused over whether Trump means the virus himself is a hoax of the politi...

Ora, before I waste any more time looking at random crap on Twitter. If you're going to post about Trump calling the coronavirus a hoax, could you link to something showing him actually doing it rather that some random hack claiming he did.

I am deeply shocked by this revelation, especially considering Maniac's status as Moderator-in-Preparation. You can't disguise the disappointment. It’s very, very hard to see how you can bind these wounds. It's led to probably one of the worst periods at webDiplomacy I’ve ever experienced. It’s like...

Yawn. Ora, you should really stay off Twitter. It's messing with your sense of perspective. As for Pence, what's the issue? You don't want a doctor in charge of a hospital, you want someone good at running hospitals. Same principle is true here. Is the media getting overexcited and exaggerating the ...

True enough. The absolute worst beer from the Americas is Sol, which is genuinely undrinkable. Corona, if you add enough lime, at least has the decency to taste vaguely of lime. What it isn't, however, is good. On my list of drinks it ranks somewhat below tap water.
