Re: What is the best country in bot games?
That is some very interesting data, thank you. I don't have any comparable data, I haven't played nearly enough bot games. But your post made me want to share an anecdote on a game I played recently. I was Italy. By the end of 1906, I had lost all my home centers and was down to 2 units and 2 SCs. ...

Re: Easier Bots
Yeah the bots do seem to work together quite a bit, i've been trying to solo as every country going against the bots but it's so hard with the constant teaming between the bots meanwhile they rarely team with the player i've only managed to succeed with France and Germany it just seems impossible w...

Re: Easier Bots
I'm new to bot games (just using it to play around in the new UI), and the behavior that confused me most in the game linked below was the collusion between Eng and Fra that lead to a Fra solo win. Thing is, Fra had numerous opportunities to easily win earlier in the game, but the dynamic duo took ...

Re: Easier Bots
I had my best bot game recently where I worked with France and came 2nd. But yep it's definitely on the todo list to add difficulty ratings to the bots, unfortunately AI researchers aren't very interested in making AI less smart so we need to prod a bit

Re: Openings for new moderators!!!!
Yep we have got some submissions from people willing to be mods who would make great mods; thanks to those who applied and sorry to all it's taking so long. From my POV the blocker is that I'm not sure if we want to move to using a new helpdesk https://help.webdiplomacy.net [email protected].net , o...

Re: New Board UI testing
While you're in the process of a major UI overhaul, would this be a good time to add preferred pronouns for each user in a game? It's a bit of an awkward aspect playing with people you don't know and has an easy fix (at least conceptually, I know nothing of programming). Hmm, hadn't thought of that...

Re: New Board UI testing
As others have said though I expect it's about what you're used to, since when people who only use other sites always dilike our colors etc. ^^^^^ This. When I first saw the new UI, I didn't like it that much, for the reasons others have given: similar colors, colors too bland, weird icons. After p...

Re: play.webdiplomacy.net
Good feedback thanks ATC, can I get the game ID and turn etc for that order that didn't go through? If you have trouble selecting something by clicking/pressing it I find zooming into the map with the scroll wheel / pinching your screen makes it a lot easier to select things. If you click on the ico...

Ever since I was testing the new UI by playing against the bots and finding it to be an actually surprisingly fun user experience, which works really well on mobile/tablet, I wanted to make it so anyone can just click a link and be playing in 5 seconds, no account required. So here it is: https://pl...

Re: Bot game not cancelling even though all the bots are voting Cancel
The system now handles votes differently to make player votes count and ignore bot votes, and doesn't factor bot games into reliability ratings. Let me know if you have any issues

Re: User relationship management
Just wondering where this is up to? I am in an anonymous press game where I have a mild-medium strength suspicion of metagaming/cheating. Nothing that I would bother emailing the mods with (and certainly not in global) but I would love to lodge a suspicion. More just for the experience TBH. I haven...

Hi all, Yep we're aware of this, I tried to sneak in a change in the last dev cycle and it didn't work out, I'll fix it up when the next cycle rolls around in a week or two.

Re: New Board UI testing
Thanks for the feedback all, and apologies for the lockups over the last 24 hours, we're trying to gently roll out the beta board to the live site for better testing, we'll address these various concerns but I think we'll be able to manage them all.

No worries; the color scheme and icons won't be much trouble to change. As others have said though I expect it's about what you're used to, since when people who only use other sites always dilike our colors etc.

Re: New Board UI testing
Any images of this? I would love to see the new UI. Here's one: https://webdiplomacy.net/doc/webDipUI2.png I'm interested in thoughts on the colors of uncapturable territories. I think the orange blue center should be black since it can't be navidated, and I think the area outside of the main map I...

Re: New Board UI testing
Thanks that worked, basically just had to work around to home page and forum. Can the country colors be fixed? Nah they're good, they're practically the same, never really liked German brown anyway. Got to admit, as someone who never really used backstabbr it was a bit daunting with all the arrows ...

Re: New Board UI testing
Does this work on bot games? Yep, I've been giving it a run on that, really good experience actually in my opinion, it's a lot more enjoyable just clicking around than looking up, looking down, checking the name, etc. The subtle things like highlighting of certain buttons, flashing of warnings, and...
