Re: US authoritarianism

I do agree that the plan was nonsense. Probability of succeeding with is was zero.

The reason why this undermines democracy is that a large group of republican voters now believe that violating election laws is necessary to preserve the integrity of the vote.

Re: US authoritarianism

Oct, I'm not guessing. This is what republicans said their plan was. Here's Michigan's Speaker of the House laying it out for you, from three days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt1bbyF0IMI&feature=emb_logo Notice 'the president did not ask us to violate the law,' but RNC still asking for a tw...

Re: US authoritarianism

I disagree with point 1, or I don't understand it. Yeah, as I said before, you're not paying attention. At first, Trump tried to delay the counting of the votes. At the moment, he's trying to delay the certification of the vote counts. Well, it should be pointed out that as of Monday, this attempt ...

Re: US authoritarianism

Oct, you're ignoring that the main points Trump's lawsuits where 1) to run down the clock 2) to convince republican voters that there was fraud It was never about winning the court cases, nor was it ever about presenting credible evidence. This was a campaign to put pressure on *Republican* election...

Re: US authoritarianism

I couldn't care less what Trump's team are actually claiming. My understanding is that there are a vast array of differing lawsuits, the details of which interest me not at all. I'm sorry, it's just so obvious that you're not paying attention. I have no clue why you're writing in this thread at all...

Re: US authoritarianism

He's already lost 30+ lawsuits after the election.

I think the big fear lies in the millions of people who now even consider Fox News to have a liberal bias. I can't see any way back to a civil discussion. It's all about conspiracy theories from here on.

Re: US authoritarianism

I don't think you're paying attention, Oct. First, it is not the court's task to investigate. If you have suspicions, but no proof, then you can of course request a recount/audit/investigation. You could file a lawsuit asking the court order an investigation, but that's not what's going on. They're ...

Re: US authoritarianism

No, you have a right to a legal challenge if you have a reason to suspect wrongdoing. You don't have a right to a legal challenge just because you wish. Knowingly making false accusations is a crime in most places. As is lying to the court. And you may be sanctioned for frivolous litigation. There i...

They know the result is not flawed. They're not even presenting evidence in court.

Context: the bot will almost always allow you to take Mun in A02 if you want it.

Re: Fairbot Belt challenge

You could have taken Munich in A02, and then either bounced Boh in S03 or put an army in Silesia in S03. Then you wouldn't have had to face the Austrian Wall (Tyr/Boh/Sil/Pru) in 1904. The bot really likes that 1904 Austrian Wall. I think the best defense is to make sure that, whatever you do, get a...

Re: Fairbot Belt challenge

Seriously becoming traumatic for me though. I don't know where I went wrong, strategically (besides losing every 50/50 in existence). Should I have gone for StP in 1903? I think you should have sent the first fleet to NTH > Den > BAL. But what really stands out is the move Kie > Den in S03. You're ...

Re: France vs Austria Bot Challenge

Yeah, completely agree. It's a question of whether the game is sufficiently complex for humans not to be able to determine best responses. I think my opinion on FvA is that it's probably not sufficiently complex. I might of course be wrong (and I'd be happy to be proven wrong!). It's definitely a bo...

Re: France vs Austria Bot Challenge

So if you play enough games, the bot will always win more than it loses. Much like how a rock-paper-scissors player that always randomly chooses an action with 1/3rd probability is unbeatable on average. We're clearly not there yet, but that's the goal. Some nitpicking here: unbeatable is not the s...

Re: France vs Austria Bot Challenge

Yeah, attacking Italy as France is something you only wanna do if Austria goes hard on Germany and Scandinavia, so obviously not against this bot. I replayed Eden's game's start, and it bounced me in Pie instead of Mun in S02: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=332061#gamePanel I've seen it do...

Very solid play throughout. It survived the first 50/50 I had for the win, but not the second. Lightyears better than Kestas Bot. Well done!

I'm still curious as to how repetitive it is.

Re: France vs Austria Bot Challenge

LMAO I DID IT LOL. But that counts as a French win. Well done! Regarding 'superhuman,' I don't think FvA is sufficiently complex. The best humans already play fairly close to optimums. You might have better luck trying it with Cold War, which is more chaotic. I just started my first game, but I'll ...
