Re: Any plans on making a publicly available API?
There isn't a public API. What do you want to do? Just get the turn information for a specific game? I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but webdip is open source - if you wanted to make a PR, you could make a copy of board.php and strip it back to just render the information you're loo...

How well does this go over in press games? :)To be fair, Silesia is rightful Austrian clay.

Re: No mod response
I haven't been a mod for many years, but they *are* all volunteers, modding in their free time. A week or two seems reasonable to me (although I understand it's frustrating)

Re: Profile page
I reckon a PR is the best way to do this (although I am no longer involved, I'd be happy to review).

Re: Rulebook Press
Well, you learn something every day. Today, for me, it's this.the rules actually do explicitly forbid discussion during the order writing phase too.

Re: Bots co-operating in gunboat
The bots are not very aware of how to stop a solo. I don't think they are cooperating beyond seeing the moves on the board. I also don't think they're aware of who the human player is.

Re: Rulebook Press
If you're pointing to the rulebook as a source of truth, it's worth noting that discussion is not explicitly forbidden in the order writing phase, only in retreats and adjustments.

Re: Can we fix the phase countdown timer?
> Some years ago the phase timer was off by several minutes (and not because of users' own computers)
This could happen if the server's time was out of sync too, but that hasn't been possible for a long time.
In 2022, just set your computer to use network time, and then forget about this forever

Re: Rulebook Press
Oh! I know this one! When I implemented rulebook press, I didn't make it the default because at the time changes to the default game settings were extremely contentious, and I didn't feel like having a fight in the forum. I know the PPSC advocates will disagree here, but I tried really hard to only ...

Re: Normalize Killing Turkey Easily in Gunboat
With words. I'm usually very clear about my moves with people. Maybe Austria doesn't like it, but ...so? They can't meaningfully attack you until 1903 anyway. And they'll see that you were on their side when the moves are revealed. Also, if Austria refuses to allow Italy to move to Tyrolia, I don't ...

Re: Criticism of the Lepanto
Wise words from President Eden. You can't do this every game, but my favourite anti-france italian opening is: Ven->Tyl->Mun (Build two fleets) A Mun->Bur (ideally with support from someone) F Tun->Wes F Nap->TyS F Rom->Tus (then try not to giggle uncontrollably - this is important, because allies d...

I agree with Carol. If your definition of "go" for the early game is that you must be able to independently sustain the attack, then I don't think you can attack anyone (as any power).Deeply_Dippy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 8:21 pmFrance is effectively a no-go as it is impossibe to independently sustain the attack.

Re: Bots don't know they've been stabbed
Yes, that's right: https://github.com/diplomacy/research/blob/master/neurips_paper_v1.pdf As a reward function, we use the average of (1) a local reward function (+1/-1) when a supply center is gained or lost (updated every phase and not just in Winter)), and (2) a terminal reward function (for a so...
