Do I survive with units but no centers?
If someone else is about to solo after the autumn move, and I still have units but just lost all of my centers, will I survive or am I eliminated?

Re: Winning as Austria against bots?
Ironically, I just discovered the bots and working my way through the powers to win with each. I just started with Austria, but this last game, I was attacked by Italy, Russia, Turkey AND GERMANY! in Spring 1901. In fact, the thing that saved my bacon was that Germany and Italy were fighting each o...

Re: Winning as Austria against bots?
Italy never Lepantos when you play as Austria. I've seen Italy attack France sometimes in S'01. I usually see Italy just full on attack you in S'01, 9 out of 10 times. I never see Italy play the way 99% of human players play Italy in S'01. Now will come some rationalizations about the algorithm, but...

Party Mode? Standard/Rulebook Press where everyone sees who talks to whom
I was thinking that one detriment of playing online is that, unlike an in-person game, you can't tell who is talking behind your back. What if all messages are logged publicly? I'm not talking about a public press game. Messages would remain confidential, but you could see every time one country tal...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!
Fair enough, but what about the country they are assigned? Do the AIs have different "personalities?" For giggles, I played as Austria about ten times yesterday. Skynet was Italy every time. 9/10 times, he either moved Venice to Trieste in S01, Venice to Tyrolia with Rome to Venice in S01 or convoye...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!
Again, you're not really understanding my point. I am not asking for the AIs to play worse. I'm asking for the AIs to PLAY BETTER. From my last, playing as Austria is not my concern; it's a general example. I'm asking you to provide feedback to the developers, not "fix" anything. There are a few sho...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!
Again, you need to support them just like any normal gunboat game. See here: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=245389#gamePanel I offer Austria support in 01 and in return the bot supports me into Rumania. If you go into any gunboat game attacking all the humans you're gonna get ganged up on...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!
Another funny example of the human player, me as Turkey, facing a rather improbable AI alliance. They definitely know who the human is and gang up on him/her. Some of those coordinated attacks on me holding Rumania, two times, by a multi-national alliance, different alliances each time, really indi...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!
Here's a funny example of Italy helping Austria destroy me (Turkey), which would in fact actually hurt Italy's chances in a real game. He essentially guarantees the Austrian solo. It's not a realistic game from Italy's POV. http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=302156&msgCountryID=6&rand=49028 An...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!
So a couple things. First, England's moves are a bit strange, but those moves at the end actually did nothing to change the outcome of the game. Perhaps England could have prevented a French solo if he had really tried, but his moves were no worse than entering all holds in terms of outcome. Second...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!
Love the effort of AI gameplay, but my nitpicking continues... Why does Jane (England) help Skynet (France) instead of me (Italy) in the endgame? http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=301725&nocache=635 I did nothing provocative against England. France destroyed England, but England helps France ...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!
... If the development team is open for a reprogramming, maybe have the Italy AI default to A Ven H and A Rom Apu for the first move. 4/5 times, Italy would be doing this. ... We cannot reprogram and it wouldn't help. The bots have learned this by studying our moves. Then logically, Italy should al...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!
It's there ANY possible way to even survive as Austria? Seems like the AI defaults to all three neighbors to immediately attack. I’ve played many bot games and in my experience, Italy attacks Austria in 01 4 times out of 5. If that happens, I haven’t found a viable way to survive. However, if Italy...
