Re: Bot openings

The critical problem continues to be - and I wish certain people would stop denying it- is the original creators programmed the bots to recognize the human player AND programmed certain bots to be passive/others aggressive which actually removes realism (the passive bots will sit and do nothing whe...

Re: Worldwide decline in Diplomacy game

I suppose you'll get much more of it if you or JMO or Kestas instal Vdip and Ru-server variants. Also we need posibility to select the language of interface and language-rooms, where you can create games between the chineese-speaking or russian-speaking players, etc. I really think it's a bad thing...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server

Alright .. I rather unwisely tried to change the forum around without thinking it through, it needs more thought and input so I've reverted that. If there are any problems with the forum let me know, but it should be the posts+users from after the change with forums from before the change. Have you...

Re: Screwed up orders

Agreed, I think the majority of our new players are not necessarily familiar with the game, and if they messed up orders shortly into using the site we'd likely lose them retention wise. Having an opt IN to allowing incorrect orders seems reasonable though.

Home page seems to have an error showing up.
Deprecated: Function get_magic_quotes_gpc() is deprecated in /var/www/webdiplomacy.net/public_html/header.php on line 95
Are you still seeing that? I can't reproduce it.

Re: What is Concede Button for?

Looks like Kestas missed a setting in the config file when he moved the server that limits the variant types that the button can be displayed in. When the variants aren't in the config it defaults to all games. Should be fixed now.

I'm afraid I just had another slow load time (several minutes).

I am using dark mode.
Was it the home page or something else on the site?

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server

Has anyone ran into the issue of the site being slow to load who is NOT on dark mode? I noticed that part of the delay was a missing css file in the KnownWorld variant and created a blank file, and I immediately stopped seeing the delayed load times. If you run into this again please let me know here.

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server

You may well already be aware, but just in case: the website seems to intermittently very slow. Maybe once or twice a day since the server move, I've been experiencing very long load times (maybe a minute?), on an otherwise good internet connection. Same issue. I know Eden has it as wwell, site see...

Re: Old forum entries

The problem is when it's used, so 1 or 2 people checking it to post in last person to win doesn't really slow the site. Hundreds of profiles having it auto populated on the home page...very different story. If a ton of people started using it again we'd have issues again, in which case we'd just blo...

Re: Site certification expired

I have no doubt that the webDip leadership are dealing with the issue like swans. Unseen beneath the water the legs are furiously working, whilst up above the membership either admire the serene beauty of it all or take potshots depending on their nature. A bit of a heads up on what the problem is ...

Re: webDiplomacy's interpretation of the victory rules

This game where Austria drew in your opening post actually also looks weird - the orders say the retreats happened, but on the board Vienna is still red and Austria has 1 centre. Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see how that can happen - according to my understanding Austria would be elimin...

Re: Communicating with draw & cancel button in gunboat

Using the Pause or Cancel buttons as signals to other players is violating the press rules. For example, voting pause to signal the desire for a smaller draw is not allowed. If you need a pause in a gunboat game contact the moderators (see below for the contact details) and explain why. Nothing abo...

Re: WebDiplomacy Leader Boards

Shouldn't there be a built-in leaderboard on this website for ghost ratings broken down by category? Right now, the closest I can find is a leaderboard for the overall ghost ratings . Yep, it was planned in the release and the person who was going to do it unexpectedly had to leave the site and has...
