Re: [Discord] Two Playtests, Prep for 2024 Tournament
Oh, and if they are dislodged in Spring, but the SC becomes vacant again by the end of Fall, they rebuild their original unit.

Re: [Discord] Two Playtests, Prep for 2024 Tournament
So, they can move to cut support, but they will always bounce back to their home territory? What if they are displaced in a Spring turn? Can they retreat? Right, they can cut support and potentially bounce player units heading to that territory. If they bounce a territory, even if they bounce with ...

Re: [Discord] Two Playtests, Prep for 2024 Tournament
They can be given move orders, but their moves always bounce, even if they bounce with nothing. The rules on Minor Powers units are contradictory. It says " A minor power’s army or fleet differs from their normal counterparts in that they are stationary; their units will never occupy any space other...

Re: [Discord] Two Playtests, Prep for 2024 Tournament
And yes, I have PDFs for the rules on both, though I'm hosting the full-resolution copies of all the maps on the same site.
I can upload the rules to you directly via Discord if you like.

Re: [Discord] Two Playtests, Prep for 2024 Tournament
Could you create a document for the rules of the above two variants? I'm interested in joining, but can't access your site. (I would like to look at the rules before I join.) You can't access this site? https://nopunin10did.com It's just a standard wordpress blog. Does your internet provider block ...

[Recruiting] Order of the Dragon [10/10 & 2/10]
Introduction Hi all! I'm NoPunIn10Did. I'm a variant designer and GM that used to be far more active a few years ago, primarily through the PlayDiplomacy forums (and a little on vDiplomacy). I'm recruiting players for a variant that I designed. It will be played on my Discord server, and I will be ...

Re: Saga of the Nine (r2) Now Recruiting
This looks awesome. I only haven't signed up because I am over loaded with games already but will definitely keep tabs! Good to hear! Did you end up joining the Discord Server ? Saga of the Nine is under way, but we have openings in another (similar) variant being played on the same server: Order o...

Re: Saga of the Nine (r2) Now Recruiting
Even if you're not interested in playing, we'd be happy to welcome observers to the Discord server. You'll be the first to hear about opportunities for other games, including whenever registration formally opens for the 2021 tournament.

Saga of the Nine (r2) Now Recruiting
Last year, Aeschines and I debuted a new Diplomacy variant over on the PlayDip forums: Saga of the Nine . This year, Aeschines will be GMing round two: Starting Map Registration and Rules Discord Server Saga of the Nine is a nine-player variant with an original alt-history setting based loosely on N...

Open Source license is AGPL?
Just to double-check...
This code is licensed under the AGPL, correct? I found a couple files referring to it in the source code, but it's apparently not listed in the project's user-facing readme on GitHub.
And assuming that's correct, how long has it been under the AGPL?

Re: Transitioning Scoring Systems: Backward Compatibility?
Is that scoring method still supported in the code, even though it’s not enabled for new game creation?
And would a hypothetical draw in one of those games still share points equally?

Transitioning Scoring Systems: Backward Compatibility?
I started a thread over on vDiplomacy about updating their current systems for scoring (and related systems regarding the definition of the solo). They would be brought closer in line to how webDip handles all such code, with some additions to support an updated version of PPSC. This would be a long...

Re: Drawing is the new winning?
Or you can make draws DSS worth half the value rounded down. The number of points awarded at the end would be less than the points input. Not necessarily, just award those points to the losers. That does create a perverse scenario in which the eliminated players can earn more than the players in th...

Or you can make draws DSS worth half the value rounded down. The number of points awarded at the end would be less than the points input. That would be a net-negative scoring system, which doesn't work terribly well in an online environment like this. What could work, if you want the approximate fe...

Re: Drawing is the new winning?
This sad crap has been with the Hobby for decades and won't be going away any time soon. The justifications are just as sorry as they ever were. All you can do is try your damnedest to win, and if that is impossible, throw the game if anyone tries to draw-whittle. Lol It was frankly inevitable as s...

Re: Drawing is the new winning?
Draw-size scoring is a completely different game. The players are very likely to take every turn seriously, no matter the number of SCs they have. Playing for a solo win in a draw-size scoring game is amazing. Every last player, even players lingering on with a single center, fight like their very ...
