Re: My resignation at webDiplomacy
Dear all, I wanted to let you know that, after more than a decade of being a mod and a co-owner, I have decided to move on, in parts due to real life and the need to focus on my job and family. It has been my honor of serving this community for so long. I hope I have made the site more enjoyable fo...

Re: Sandbox feature
The key feature if a sandbox is implemented is to have the ability to export a game state to the sandbox, for the reasons Flame noted. New players may be uncertain about how their orders could resolve; a sandbox would give them a chance to see. But also for high-level players, it becomes important t...

DarthPorg36, your reliability rating's kinda low. What's up with that?
Note if you have any preferences for settings!

New Years Gunboat
Anyone want to jump into a gunboat game? Other than 50h phases, I'm happy with any other settings, depending on what others want.
Newish players are welcome, but only if you are confident you can commit to the game.

Re: Requesting Key for Cicero?
My apologies! I didn't look far enough and made an erroneous assumption!
You can email the mods at [email protected], although I suspect you may need more of a plan than merely playing around with it.

Re: Requesting Key for Cicero?
Unfortunately, Meta hasn't made their AI available to the public. What that line is referring to is how Meta was able to submit Cicero's moves to the webDiplomacy site without having a human manually enter them—ie., via API.

I'm curious how many people were spectating? I tried to see in the advanced game search function at one point, but it seems to be broken.
I was certainly pleased to have an unopposed path into MAO

Re: Moderate scoring systems
Neither WTA scoring nor PPSC scoring violate the rules. PPSC scoring always awards nine seventeenths (an absolute majority) of the pot to players who solo, a clear win and therefore consistent with the rules. There is, however, no way to defend SoS scoring with the rulebook That's a very unique rea...

Re: Moderate scoring systems
1) You are perhaps relying on the explanation of PPSC that is currently on the website: https://webdiplomacy.net/points.php Unfortunately, that description of PPSC does not accurately describe how the scoring system used to work. I would refer you to an old version of that webpage on the Internet A...

Re: Moderate scoring systems
Absolutely agree with you, Theodoric! I would also go so far to suggest that the source of the issues with DSS & SoS is that the score that a power recieves is not based on what that power does, but on what the distribution in the rest of the board looks like. DSS & SoS require players to also plan ...
